Lam Dong’s Healthcare System: Firmly Committed to Public Well-Being
During the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, hospitals and medical centers received a large number of patients seeking emergency care, examination, and treatment. Despite the increased pressure, Lam Dong’s health sector maintained 24/7 operations to ensure timely emergency response, effective disease control, and food safety.

Caring, sharing, and spreading compassion
In addition to ensuring medical examination, treatment, and emergency services during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, healthcare facilities in the eastern area of Lam Dong province also paid special attention to inpatients.
Visits, early spring gifts, and heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery helped create a warm and caring Tet atmosphere within the hospitals.

At Binh Thuan General Hospital, Comrade Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, visited and encouraged patients to remain positive in their treatment and follow medical advice for a speedy recovery.
He also presented Tet gifts to doctors, medical staff, and healthcare workers on duty on New Year’s Eve. In addition, the hospital delivered 50 gift packages directly to inpatients.

Similarly, La Gi Regional General Hospital organized visits and delivered 20 gift packages to patients undergoing treatment. The Southern Regional General Hospital also provided 20 gifts to inpatients, each worth VND 1 million, prioritizing those with severe or life-threatening illnesses. These efforts helped ease patients’ difficulties and reassure them during the holiday.
In addition to caring for patients, medical units also visited and encouraged doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who continued working day and night. Such attention was especially meaningful on New Year’s Eve and throughout the Tet holiday. Many units organized early spring gatherings to create a warm and uplifting atmosphere, helping medical staff feel secure and motivated in their work.
These practical activities helped spread compassion throughout the healthcare sector and inspired medical professionals and staff to enter the new year determined to meet growing demands and improve the quality of healthcare services.

Serving through Tet for community health
According to statistics, Binh Thuan General Hospital received 710 patient visits for examination and treatment during the Tet holiday. The Emergency Department alone handled an average of about 150 cases per day, 30 more than usual (around 120 cases per day).
Most hospital admissions were related to traffic accidents and common internal diseases among the elderly, such as pneumonia, heart failure, respiratory failure, and stroke.
Of these cases, the hospital transferred 20 severe patients to higher-level facilities for specialized treatment. At the same time, 48 level-3 surgeries were performed. All medical activities ensured patient safety throughout the holiday.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Head of the General Planning Department at Binh Thuan General Hospital, said the hospital prepared early by developing response plans and arranging duty rosters appropriately.
Medicines and medical supplies were fully stocked to meet treatment and emergency needs. Emergency services operated strictly 24/7. Security within the hospital premises was strengthened, and fire prevention and safety measures were ensured.

At regional medical centers, more than 30 inpatient cases were recorded per day on average. The Southern Regional General Hospital had over 200 inpatients during Tet. In addition to the public healthcare system, private general hospitals also actively participated in 24/7 emergency services. Their emergency departments handled over 100 cases per day, with about 80 inpatient admissions daily. This helped ease pressure and ensured healthcare services during Tet.
Mr. Dang Thuc Anh Vu, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Health, said that during the holiday, food safety and epidemic prevention were well maintained across the province, with no cases of food poisoning or community outbreaks recorded. Medical facilities operated 24/7 emergency services, and blood supplies were fully stocked to meet treatment demands.
Across Lam Dong province, hospitals and medical centers received 2,525 patients during the Tet holiday (as of February 20, 2026), an increase of 961 compared to 2024 (1,564 cases).
A total of 611 traffic accident cases were recorded. There was one death at a medical facility and three deaths on the way to medical facilities.
There were 12 firecracker-related accidents, including seven hospitalizations. So far, no deaths or critically severe cases related to fireworks or explosive materials have been recorded.
