Building Brighter, Greener and Cleaner Streets in Lam Dong

On a weekend morning, members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Lang Biang–Da Lat Ward gathered along streets and in residential areas to carry out familiar tasks: sweeping streets, collecting litter, tending trees and improving the surrounding landscape.

Some used hoes to loosen the soil, others swept up fallen leaves, collected rubbish or tended roadside flower beds. These seemingly small contributions are helping make residential areas cleaner, more attractive and better maintained.

Beyond one-off clean-up campaigns, young people in Lang Biang–Da Lat are working to make green, clean and attractive surroundings part of everyday life in residential groups and schools. For them, preparing for the Flower Festival is not just about brightening streets during the celebrations, but also about creating a better living environment all year round.

Pham Duc Tuyen, Secretary of the Lang Biang–Da Lat Ward Youth Union, said the organization considers landscape improvement, tree planting and greenery maintenance ongoing responsibilities that require the joint efforts of young people and local residents. Youth projects and activities are therefore designed to suit the actual conditions of each area, deliver tangible results and be sustained over time.

In 14 residential groups, local Youth Union branches have established and maintained well-lit, green, clean and attractive streets while encouraging young people to take responsibility for environmental protection. At schools, initiatives such as “Gardens for Children” and “Bright, Green, Clean and Beautiful School Gates” have been implemented across classes, creating more green spaces and helping foster a civilized school environment.

These initiatives do more than improve the landscape; they also give Youth Union members opportunities to demonstrate their sense of responsibility to the community. Through each volunteer workday and every tree they care for, environmental awareness gradually spreads among students, residents and local organizations.

Spreading Greenery Ahead of the Major Festival

The youth movement to beautify their hometown is expanding through activities supporting the campaign, “Every household plants flowers, everyone plants flowers and trees to welcome the 11th Da Lat–Lam Dong Flower Festival.” Local Youth Union branches are organizing clean-up campaigns, caring for trees, improving youth projects and encouraging residents to plant flowers in front of their homes and help maintain the areas where they live.

Le Nguyen Quoc Dang, Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Hung Vuong Residential Group, said members regularly work with local residential authorities to clean up the environment, plant flowers and trees, and improve the appearance of streets and neighborhoods. Through these practical activities, young people are not only helping improve the landscape ahead of the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival in 2026, but also raising environmental awareness and encouraging the community to maintain green, clean and attractive living spaces.

The activities extend beyond short-term campaigns. Every street maintained, flower bed cultivated and schoolyard enhanced with greenery contributes to the goal of building a sustainable living environment where flowers and greenery remain a regular part of community life.

According to Tran Diep My Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union, young people across the province are organizing a range of major programs and events in response to the Flower Festival. These include the “School Dance” competition, themed “Lam Dong Youth in Harmony with the Green Symphony,” scheduled for October 17, 2026, at Vo Van Kiet Park in Phu Thuy Ward; and the program “Lam Dong Youth Plant Seeds of Life, Let Flowers Shine,” which will be launched simultaneously across the province on October 25 and run through December 31, 2026.

Through these activities, Youth Union organizations aim to inspire initiative and creativity among young people, encouraging each member to do more than participate in campaigns and become an advocate for green living at home, at school and in the wider community. When young people take action together, the message of environmental protection becomes tangible through simple, everyday practices.

With youthful energy, enthusiasm and practical contributions, Lam Dong’s young people are helping prepare for the major festival by improving the places where they live. Every volunteer campaign and green initiative today not only contributes to a successful Flower Festival but also helps build a greener, cleaner and more attractive homeland for the future.
