Lam Dong Secures 13 Medals at 2026 National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship
Concluding 11 days of competition in Gia Lai Province, the Lam Dong delegation won 13 medals—including two golds, three silvers, and eight bronzes—at the 2026 National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship.

Held from July 25 to August 5 in Gia Lai, the championship was jointly organized by the Sports Authority of Vietnam, the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation, and the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The event gathered more than 600 athletes from 29 domestic delegations alongside international teams from Russia, Morocco, and France.
Athletes competed in two primary disciplines: routine forms and combat sparring. In routine forms, competitors were divided into three age groups: Group 1 (ages 17–40), Group 2 (ages 41–50), and Group 3 (ages 51–60). Group 1 featured 20 mandatory forms, 10 optional forms, and three dual-performance events for men and women; Group 2 competed in nine mandatory and seven optional forms; while Group 3 featured five mandatory and four optional forms.
The sparring competition is for the 17–40 age group, featuring two formats: without headgear and body armor (8 weight classes), and with headgear, body armor, and elbow pads (25 weight classes).
Under tournament regulations, combat sparring and routine forms competitors in the 17–40 age group were required to hold at least an 8th-degree practitioner rank recognized by member organizations of the Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Federation. Competitors in the 41–60 age group held at least a 3rd-degree national master rank.

The tournament aimed to provide domestic athletes with competitive experience to raise professional standards, while contributing to the preservation and promotion of Vietnam's traditional martial arts, spreading the martial spirit, and strengthening regional exchanges.

Lam Dong’s traditional martial arts delegation participated with 15 athletes, including several grass-roots competitors in both combat sparring and routine forms.

The delegation's two gold medals went to Nguyen Trong Hong Hoang (born 1997) in the men's 64 kg championship combat division, and Ho Thi Thu Hang (born 1984) in routine forms.
