Lam Dong Seeks JICA Support for ODA Subprojects

On the morning of August 27, Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep chaired a working session with a delegation from the JICA Vietnam Office.

The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of the Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Project in Lam Dong Province, Phase 1, funded by the Government of Japan through ODA loans.

The JICA Vietnam delegation was led by Ikeda Hiroyuki, Deputy Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, together with other members of the delegation.

The project comprises 15 subprojects covering various fields, including transport infrastructure, irrigation and civil works.

All 15 subprojects are scheduled for implementation from 2020 to 2028, with total investment exceeding VND 1.15 trillion. Funding comes from ODA loans provided by the Government of Japan through JICA, combined with counterpart funding from the local budget.

To date, total disbursement for the project has reached approximately VND 77.2 billion, equivalent to about 22 percent of the allocated capital. In 2026 alone, VND 3.5 billion has been disbursed out of nearly VND 300 billion in allocated funds.

At the meeting, Lam Dong officials highlighted a number of difficulties and obstacles encountered during project implementation.

Ikeda Hiroyuki highly appreciated Lam Dong's determination to address difficulties and accelerate the project.

Regarding the issues raised by the province, the JICA Vietnam Office will continue to provide support and review the feasibility and economic efficiency of the subprojects to determine appropriate solutions as soon as possible.

For its part, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep thanked the JICA Vietnam Office for its continued attention and support during project implementation.

To accelerate progress, Vo Ngoc Hiep asked the JICA Vietnam Office to conduct surveys and reassess the feasibility and economic efficiency of several subprojects.

Lam Dong will strengthen coordination, promptly address difficulties and accelerate project implementation, creating a strong breakthrough in the comprehensive development of the local agricultural economy.
