Lam Dong Province is stepping up tourism cooperation with Indonesia as part of its strategy to diversify international visitor markets and expand its presence in the growing global Halal tourism sector.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 9 hosted the 2026 Lam Dong–Indonesia Tourism Networking and Cooperation Program, bringing together government officials, diplomatic representatives and tourism businesses from both sides to explore new partnership opportunities.

The event was attended by representatives of the Lam Dong provincial government, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as tourism associations and travel businesses from both Vietnam and Indonesia.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Indonesia represents one of Lam Dong's most promising international tourism markets.

With a population of more than 280 million people—approximately 87% of whom are Muslim—the country offers significant opportunities for destinations specializing in leisure, ecotourism and cultural tourism. Many Indonesian travelers also place strong emphasis on tourism services that meet Halal standards.

Officials from Lam Dong's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism describe Indonesia as a high-potential market for the province's tourism industry.

At present, Indonesian visitors account for only about 0.4% of Lam Dong's total international arrivals. Provincial officials, however, believe the market has considerable room for future growth.

To tap this potential, Lam Dong has introduced a range of initiatives aimed at developing Halal-friendly tourism, including helping tourism businesses meet Halal standards, expanding promotional activities in key Muslim-majority markets, and improving service quality for international visitors.
