High-Tech Farming Creates New Opportunities

Touneh Ma Tina, a member of the Churu ethnic group from D’ran Commune, is among the young entrepreneurs finding success through high-tech agriculture.

After graduating in finance and banking and spending several years working away from home, Tina returned to her hometown in 2015 to start her own business.

Realizing that traditional outdoor farming generated low productivity and high pest risks, she decided to invest in greenhouse farming and shift toward high-tech agricultural production.

While showing visitors around her flower greenhouse, which is nearing harvest, Tina explained that agriculture remains the main economic activity in the area, especially vegetables and flowers. However, outdoor cultivation often delivers low yields and unstable income, while high-tech farming requires significant upfront investment.

After learning about the program through local authorities, I received a VND 200 million startup loan for young entrepreneurs. With this capital, I expanded my investment in greenhouse-based high-tech flower production. The flowers are nearly ready for harvest, and our family now earns a more stable income each year.

According to Cruyang Nai Thien, head of the village savings and loan group in La Bouye A Hamlet, Tina is one of the most successful youth startup borrowers in the locality.

At only 34 years old, Tina has expanded her greenhouse area to around 7 sao (approximately 7,000 square meters) and during peak seasons also creates jobs for local workers.

Returning Home to Start a Business

Similarly, Le Thanh Sang from Phu Nhang Quarter, Binh Thuan Ward, chose to return home to start a business despite already having stable employment after graduating from the University of Transport and Communications.

Due to limited capital, Sang’s electrical and plumbing supply store initially operated on a small scale with limited inventory, making business growth difficult.

In 2024, the Binh Thuan Ward Youth Union introduced him to a preferential startup loan program through the local branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. The additional funding allowed Sang to expand his store, diversify products and provide electrical and plumbing installation services.

Sang shared: “Since receiving the loan, I’ve confidently expanded my inventory and business scale, resulting in better revenue. The business now provides stable jobs and income for both my wife and me, and I’ve also hired two additional workers,”

Preferential Loans Become a Key Support

Recently, many young people returning to Lam Dong after graduation have received support from the Employment Generation Loan Program to launch businesses and develop local economies.

In the first four months of 2026 alone, more than 9,400 borrowers across the province received preferential loans totaling nearly VND 860 billion under the employment support program. Youth startup borrowers accounted for over 5% of the total.

According to Ly Khau Nghia, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, the preferential credit source has been implemented through four socio-political organizations, including the Youth Union.

Over the past 20 years, these policy loans have delivered clear results, contributing to national programs on employment generation and sustainable poverty reduction,

He added that preferential loans have become an important foundation for helping many young people successfully launch startups.

In practice, when disbursed to the right beneficiaries and used effectively, policy credit has proven highly impactful, not only helping poor households but also providing many policy beneficiaries with resources to develop businesses and stabilize their lives.

According to statistics from the provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, Lam Dong currently has more than 88,700 outstanding employment-support loans with a total balance exceeding VND 5.4 trillion.
