The provincial People's Committee, in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), held a conference on June 19 to review the province's Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) performance and discuss measures to promote private sector development under the Business Performance Index (BPI).

The event brought together provincial leaders, VCCI representatives, government agencies, business associations and nearly 100 local entrepreneurs.

Opening the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc said the PCI and BPI not only serve as indicators of local governance quality but also reflect the confidence and satisfaction of businesses regarding the province's investment and business environment.
According to the 2025 PCI rankings, Lam Dong remained among Vietnam's better-performing provinces in economic governance. All component indicators scored above five points, with the province ranking first nationwide in fair competition and second in proactive local governance.
Other areas, including administrative compliance costs, access to resources and legal institutions, also recorded positive improvements.

Provincial officials attributed these results to continued administrative reform, digital transformation, and efforts to improve public services while fostering a more business-friendly government.
Despite the progress, authorities acknowledged that challenges remain. Market entry procedures and transparency indicators continue to lag behind other PCI components, while BPI results showed that many private enterprises still face limitations in innovation, research and development, digital transformation and participation in value chains.

During the conference, VCCI experts presented detailed analyses of PCI indicators, while representatives from the Lam Dong Young Entrepreneurs Association proposed additional policies to support startups and young businesses.
Business leaders, economists and policymakers also discussed solutions to improve access to finance, strengthen production value chains, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and accelerate technology adoption and digital transformation across the private sector.

Concluding the conference, Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Phuc said the provincial government would focus on six priority areas, including further improving the investment climate, addressing lower-scoring PCI indicators, implementing national policies on private sector development, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, and expanding support for businesses investing in research and innovation.

The province also plans to strengthen its innovation ecosystem, attract strategic investors capable of creating leading enterprises, and maintain regular dialogue with businesses to promptly resolve obstacles affecting production and investment.
"Lam Dong is entering a new stage of development with significant opportunities and potential," Nguyen Ngoc Phuc said.

Our goal is to build one of Vietnam's leading investment environments, foster a dynamic and competitive business community, and enable the private sector to become a major driver of the province's long-term socio-economic development.
