Lam Dong to organize 2026 Hung Kings’ Commemoration Festival
The Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed organizing the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Festival in 2026 at two locations, following the province’s recent administrative merger.

Currently, Lam Dong is home to two Hung Kings temples recognized as provincial historical sites: the Hung Kings Temple in Cam Ly – Da Lat Ward and the Hung Kings Temple in Phan Ri Cua Commune. For years, the festival in Phan Ri Cua has been held annually at the provincial scale, becoming a familiar cultural event for local residents.
The worship of the Hung Kings, recognized by UNESCO in 2012 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is considered a unique Vietnamese folk belief. It embodies the national tradition of gratitude to ancestors and solidarity, creating a spiritual bridge that connects past and present generations.

To preserve and promote these values, the province plans to organize the 2026 festival at two main venues. The first ceremony will be held at Au Lac Temple at the Prenn Tourist Area in Xuan Huong – Da Lat Ward, coordinated by provincial authorities and related agencies. The second will take place at the Hung Kings Temple in Phan Ri Cua Commune, led by local authorities and the temple’s management board. Both ceremonies are scheduled for the 10th day of the third lunar month.

In addition, 18 Hung Kings worship sites across 124 communes, wards and special administrative units will also hold incense-offering ceremonies, ensuring solemn and meaningful commemorations that meet the spiritual needs of local communities.
By maintaining the festival at multiple venues, Lam Dong aims to safeguard a long-standing cultural tradition while strengthening community bonds and honoring the nation’s ancestral roots.
