Lam Dong tops Group B after 2–1 win over Tay Ninh

The match was a crucial showdown, as Tay Ninh entered the game leading Group B with four consecutive wins (12 points), while Lam Dong ranked second with 10 points after four matches. A victory would allow the hosts to end Tay Ninh’s winning streak and take over the top position.

Tay Ninh proved to be a formidable opponent with a well-balanced squad. From the opening minutes, the visitors applied constant pressure, forcing Lam Dong onto the defensive.

The breakthrough came early in the 8th minute when Tay Ninh scored with a well-executed attacking move, taking a 1–0 lead.

Despite the setback, Lam Dong remained composed and gradually regained control, creating several attacking opportunities. However, they were unable to find an equalizer in the first half, as heavy rain made the pitch slippery and challenging.

Lam Dong finally leveled the score in the 72nd minute. From a right-side corner kick, Nguyen Vu Truong Giang (No. 23) rose high to head the ball into the net, making it 1–1.

As the match seemed destined for a draw, a decisive moment occurred in the 85th minute. Tay Ninh’s Nguyen Chinh Tinh made an overhit backpass, and due to the wet surface, the goalkeeper failed to control the ball, allowing it to roll into the net. The own goal handed Lam Dong a 2–1 victory.

With this result, Lam Dong now have 13 points from five matches (four wins, one draw), officially moving to the top of Group B.

Lam Dong will continue their campaign at home on April 25 against Mekong Can Tho in the final match of the first leg.
