Amid this expansion, Phu Quy Special Zone has experienced a vibrant tourism season.

Do Minh Chuc, Vice Chairman of the Phu Quy Special Zone People's Committee, said the locality has completed a number of tourism-related tasks according to its annual schedule, while visitor numbers have increased compared with the same period last year.

As of September 6, 2026, Phu Quy had welcomed 165,860 visitors, an increase of 26,024 compared with the same period in 2025, including 4,862 international visitors.

Tourism infrastructure has continued to receive investment, while tourism products and service quality have improved. Promotion, communications and tourism marketing have also received greater attention.

From June 11 to 13, Phu Quy organized a series of cultural and tourism activities combined with promotion, environmental protection and tourism development.

The program included the launch of the “Green Tourism – For a Sustainable Future” campaign, a film gala, exhibitions, book displays, film screenings, the installation of QR codes at six tourist attractions, field surveys and research into new island tourism products.

The activities were also added to the program responding to National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026, helping connect Phu Quy's island tourism with the wider national tourism program.

According to Do Minh Chuc, the locality is developing tourism in parallel with environmental and marine resource protection. Cultural and tourism activities help promote Phu Quy as a green, clean, attractive and friendly destination while offering visitors more cultural experiences.

“The number of customers at our company has increased by about 30%. During the summer, we offered discounts as part of the ‘Lam Dong People – Experience Lam Dong Tourism’ stimulus program, attracting many groups of 20 to 40 visitors,” says Le Thanh Tung, Director of Phu Quy Travel Co., Ltd.

“For tourism businesses in the special zone, every group visiting Phu Quy is another opportunity to introduce the area's landscapes, people and distinctive island character,” he says.

Tourism promotion creates new attractions

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in response to National Tourism Year – Gia Lai 2026, Lam Dong organized 11 activities, including three additional programs.

The programs attracted residents, businesses and visitors while helping promote the province's destinations, tourism products and broader image.

Tourism programs are becoming increasingly diverse in content and broader in both scale and geographic coverage. They draw on the province's advantages in landscapes, culture, sports, coastal and island tourism, and distinctive local products.

These activities are helping attract visitors and stimulate tourism-related services.

A highlight was the opening program of the summer tourism series in Phan Thiet, held in connection with the announcement of the master plan for the Mui Ne National Tourism Area. The closing night was held at the Central Square in Gia Nghia.

The four-month tourism series included 18 provincial-level programs and events, together with hundreds of supporting activities organized by localities and businesses.

Each area was developed around its own strengths, ranging from beaches and islands to nature, culture, sports and tourism services.

The “Together, Vietnam Moves Forward” walking program also received widespread participation across the province, attracting 23,973 participants and recording nearly 444 million steps, the highest figure nationwide.

The activity helped bring Lam Dong's image as a destination for coastal tourism, resorts and sports to a wider community.

Tourism promotion, marketing, stimulus programs and activities responding to National Tourism Year have contributed to attracting visitors, increasing tourism revenue, strengthening regional links, diversifying tourism products and promoting Lam Dong as a multifaceted destination.

A broader tourism space across Lam Dong

The expansion of tourism activities reflects a broader approach to destination development in Lam Dong.

Rather than concentrating visitor flows around a limited number of established destinations, the province is activating different tourism spaces and connecting their distinctive strengths.

The coastal and island environment of Phu Quy, the resort and cultural character of Da Lat, and destinations associated with nature, museums and sports can complement one another within a larger tourism network.

This approach also gives local businesses more opportunities to develop services and products suited to different visitor interests, while encouraging longer and more diverse travel experiences across the province.

In the first eight months of 2026, Lam Dong welcomed approximately 16.46 million visitors, up 18.98% year on year. International arrivals reached 997,500, an increase of 14.8%. Tourism revenue totaled VND45.5888 trillion, up 22.31%. During the National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, the province received about 680,000 visitors, up 15%, with estimated tourism revenue of VND1.41 trillion.
