Lam Dong voters enthusiastically join national election day

On the morning of March 15, together with voters across the country, more than 2.7 million voters in Lam Dong Province went to the polling stations to elect deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. From central urban areas and coastal communities to islands and remote villages, the election was conducted in a solemn, democratic and lawful atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of a nationwide festival of democracy.

A digital-era election

From early morning, polling stations across the province were decorated with flags, banners and slogans welcoming election day. Voters, dressed neatly and in high spirits, arrived in an orderly manner to exercise their civic rights and responsibilities.

From elderly voters with silver hair to young people casting their ballots for the first time, all shared a strong sense of responsibility and trust in the candidates representing the people.

Lam Dong has 2,754,314 voters casting ballots at 2,301 polling stations. Voters elect 17 National Assembly deputies from 29 candidates, 85 provincial People’s Council deputies from 133 candidates, and 2,949 commune-level People’s Council deputies from 4,888 candidates. The province has 6 National Assembly electoral units and 38 provincial People’s Council electoral units.

To ensure every citizen could participate, local authorities implemented support measures for elderly voters, people with disabilities and those living in remote areas.

A notable highlight of this election is the expanded use of digital transformation. The integration of the National Population Database and electronic identification systems in compiling voter lists has enhanced accuracy, transparency and efficiency.

Several localities also created digital infographics and QR codes, allowing voters to easily access candidate information on smartphones before casting their ballots.

Provincial leaders also cast their votes and conducted inspections at multiple polling stations throughout the day, demonstrating their commitment to this major political event while encouraging voter participation.

Following on-site inspections at polling stations, election organizers confirmed that the voting process was conducted in a serious manner and in full compliance with regulations. Polling stations were arranged conveniently for voters, and clear guidance was provided throughout the voting process to ensure democracy and transparency.

According to Luu Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council and Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee, early reports showed that the election was proceeding smoothly.

Field inspections at polling stations showed an orderly, democratic and vibrant atmosphere, with voters actively exercising their civic rights and responsibilities. By 10 a.m., many polling stations had already reached 100% voter turnout, while others had exceeded 90%. The election was proceeding solemnly, lawfully and safely.

Festive atmosphere from islands to mainland

In the Phu Quy Special Administrative Zone, more than 23,000 voters turned out for the election. At exactly 7 a.m., the first ballots were cast in a solemn and orderly atmosphere.

For residents on the country’s outlying islands, Election Day is not only an important political event but also a major community occasion, where each citizen directly exercises their democratic rights. Many fishermen arrived at polling stations early in the morning to fulfill their civic duty before heading back out to sea. For them, participating in the election is both a responsibility and an expression of their trust in representatives who will voice the aspirations and concerns of coastal and island communities.

Mr. Tran La Hung, a voter in Phu Quy Special Zone, shared: “Although I am busy preparing for a fishing trip, I still came to vote early. This is both the right and responsibility of every citizen. We fishermen hope for more supportive policies for the fisheries sector, helping us feel secure in venturing offshore, contributing to economic development while also safeguarding our seas.”

After casting their ballots, many fishermen quickly returned to the fishing port to continue preparing for new voyages. Boats once again set sail, carrying hopes for fruitful catches while reflecting the enduring spirit of island residents who remain committed to making a living at sea and protecting the nation’s maritime sovereignty.

On Election Day, the active participation of officials, armed forces personnel and local residents helped create an atmosphere of democracy, solidarity and responsibility, affirming voters’ civic awareness and their confidence in the development of their homeland and the nation, even in remote island areas.

Meanwhile, in Phan Thiet Ward, Election Day unfolded amid the familiar rhythm of life in a coastal community. As dawn broke over the port, many fishing boats returned from early-morning trips. After docking and sorting out their gear, many fishermen quickly headed to polling stations to exercise their civic rights.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh, a fisherman from Residential Group 20, shared: “We spend most of the year at sea, so our schedules are not always convenient. Election Day is very important, so everyone tries to arrange their work to cast their vote. We hope the elected representatives will pay greater attention to the lives of fishermen, invest in fisheries infrastructure and introduce more support policies so that we can feel secure venturing offshore and continuing to make a living at sea.”

Thanks to these grassroots efforts and residents’ strong sense of responsibility, polling stations in coastal areas saw large numbers of voters arriving from early morning, creating a vibrant and democratic atmosphere.

Bustling election atmosphere in border villages

The festive atmosphere of Election Day was also evident across villages and hamlets in the western region of Lam Dong Province. From early morning, streams of residents in neat attire eagerly headed to polling stations to exercise their rights and fulfill their civic duties. National flags, banners and slogans displayed along the roads created an atmosphere that was both solemn and jubilant, reflecting the spirit of a major national event – a day that embodies the will of the Party and the aspirations of the people.

At Polling Station No. 8 (Ka La Dong Hamlet) in Quang Khe Commune, voters gathered in large numbers early in the morning to participate in the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels. Lists of candidates and their summarized biographies were prominently displayed in easily visible places, enabling voters to conveniently review information before making their selections.

Communication activities were widely carried out across each village and bon, helping voters clearly understand their rights and responsibilities.

Thanks to these thorough preparations, voters arrived at polling stations in large numbers from early morning with a sense of excitement and responsibility, contributing to a democratic, safe and lawful election.

The festive atmosphere of Election Day also spread widely across Quang Son, a former revolutionary base area. From early dawn, residents eagerly headed to polling stations to exercise their civic rights. From commune leaders to local residents, many chose to vote early in the hope of completing the process ahead of the scheduled time. Holding their ballots, each voter made their own choice, yet all shared the common belief that those elected would honor their commitments to voters and serve the people with dedication.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Son Commune, said: “Seeing residents enthusiastically come to vote early in large numbers makes us feel reassured. Days of preparation and the efforts of the entire political system are now being met with the strong response of voters. I believe that with the unity of the Party committees, authorities and the people, the election will be successfully carried out.”

In the border commune of Quang Truc, the election atmosphere became even more vibrant as village elders, bon leaders and respected community figures actively participated and encouraged residents to take part in the vote. Wearing traditional attire, residents from various villages walked together to polling stations with bright smiles, expressing both joy and pride as they exercised their democratic rights.

Village elder Dieu Di from Bu P’rang 2 village shared: “Election Day is a very special occasion for people in our village. Early in the morning, we put on our traditional clothing and went together to cast our votes. Although life is still challenging, everyone understands that this is both our right and responsibility to choose representatives who truly represent the will and aspirations of the people.

Beyond the act of fulfilling civic duties, Election Day in Quang Truc also resembles a community festival, where residents gather to meet and greet one another before and after voting, sharing their joy and confidence in the representatives who will be elected.

In the central areas of the province, the atmosphere of Election Day was equally vibrant. From early morning, voters in communes and wards across the central region of Lam Dong Province eagerly headed to polling stations to exercise their rights and fulfill their civic duties. The election atmosphere was both solemn and upbeat, clearly reflecting the sense of responsibility and confidence of the people in the country’s democratic event.

At Polling Station No. 13 in Dang Len Residential Area, Lang Biang – Da Lat Ward, although it has the smallest number of voters among the ward’s 17 polling stations, with 549 registered voters, preparations were carried out thoroughly, creating a solemn and convenient space for voters to participate in the voting process.

Most residents of Dang Len Residential Area are engaged in agriculture and are currently in the midst of the production season. Nevertheless, from early morning, many voters arranged their household work and headed to the polling station to fulfill their civic duty before returning to their farms and fields.

Mr. Luu Thanh Tuan, a voter from Dang Len Residential Area, shared: “After being informed about the significance of the election as well as the rights and responsibilities of citizens, I made time to vote early this morning before going back to work in the garden. I have also learned about the candidates in order to choose those I trust. I hope that once elected, the deputies will fully convey the concerns and aspirations of the people to the National Assembly and authorities at all levels, while also making the most of their capabilities to contribute to the development of the locality.

The election atmosphere in Lang Biang - Da Lat Ward became even more vibrant as a large number of voters from various social groups participated. The ward currently has 24,439 voters, distributed across 29 residential groups in eight electoral units, with 17 polling stations, many of which are located in areas with a high population of ethnic minority residents.

At Polling Station No. 14, which covers Bon Dung I, Bon Dung II and Dang Gia residential areas—where 90.7 percent of voters are ethnic minority residents—large numbers of voters arrived early in the morning to cast their ballots. With 2,049 voters, it is one of the most crowded polling stations in the ward.

Pang Ting Sin, Secretary of the Party Cell of Bon Dung I Residential Area and a member of the election team, said that in order to facilitate voters, the election team stepped up communication efforts and arranged the polling station near the local church so residents could conveniently vote after attending the morning service. As a result, voters turned out in large numbers, creating a joyful atmosphere for the major civic event.

Voting for the first time, Cil Jin Li, 19, a voter from Bon Dung II Residential Area, said she felt both excited and proud to hold a ballot and exercise her civic rights. Prior to Election Day, Jin Li had proactively sought information about the candidates as well as the voting procedures, so she could participate in a serious and responsible manner.

The lively election atmosphere in the central areas of the province not only reflects voters' strong sense of responsibility but also demonstrates the people’s trust and expectations of the representatives who will convey the voice and aspirations of the people in the new term.

Election Day on March 15 in Lam Dong truly became a celebration of civic responsibility and public trust. Each ballot cast today represents not only a voter’s choice but also the hopes and expectations for a new term with representatives who possess both integrity and capability, and who will faithfully represent the will and aspirations of the people. The strong sense of responsibility and unity among voters across the province contributed to a successful democratic event, opening up new hopes for the province’s development in the time ahead.
