Lam Dong Wins Three Awards at First Regional Journalism Awards for Central Highlands and South Central Coast.

On May 22, the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Lam Dong Provincial Journalists Association, held the awards ceremony for the first Regional Journalism Awards for the Central Highlands and South Central Coast – 2026 in Phan Thiet Ward.

The event was attended by Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and leaders of central press agencies.

Representing Lam Dong Province were Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh; Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio-Television and Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association Le Huy Toan and representatives from the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and representatives from journalists’ associations and press agencies from the Central Highlands, the South Central Coast, and Ho Chi Minh City, along with the award-winning authors and groups of authors.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year’s awards attracted nearly 400 entries across four journalism categories. After the preliminary round, 120 works were selected for the final round, with 22 outstanding entries winning prizes, including two first prizes, four second prizes, six third prizes, and ten consolation prizes.

The Judging Panel noted that many entries showed careful investment in both content and presentation, vividly reflecting the political, economic, cultural, and social life of the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast. Many works also effectively applied modern media technologies, demonstrating the innovative spirit, creativity, and social responsibility of journalists.

Radio and television entries closely followed major current issues, including the major reform drive to streamline the organizational apparatus, the implementation of the two-tier local government system, administrative unit mergers, socio-economic development policies, and the profound impacts of the historic floods in late 2025. Meanwhile, print and online newspaper works covered diverse aspects of daily life, vividly portraying the development aspirations of localities across the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh emphasized that the Regional Journalism Awards for the Central Highlands and South Central Coast not only honor high-quality journalistic works but also help spread positive values, strengthen public trust, protect the Party’s ideological foundation, and safeguard national sovereignty.

He stated that following the merger of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong provinces, the newly formed Lam Dong Province is opening up vast development space, with immense potential in agriculture, tourism, the marine economy, energy, and logistics.

Despite ongoing challenges, the locality has recorded many positive signs in socio-economic development. Key infrastructure projects are being vigorously implemented, while the administrative apparatus is gradually operating more efficiently.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also acknowledged and spoke highly of the role of the press as a partner in communication, social supervision and criticism, and the promotion of effective models and creative approaches. Through these contributions, the press has helped drive socio-economic development and strengthen the great national unity.

In his remarks, Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi expressed his deep gratitude to the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, and relevant units for their support and thorough preparations for the First Regional Journalism Awards for the Central Highlands and South Central Coast. He also praised the responsible coordination of the Lam Dong Provincial Journalists Association as the host.

The Permanent Vice Chairman emphasized that following the merger of administrative units, journalists in the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast are facing numerous difficulties, including expanded operational areas, challenging travel conditions, and limited resources at press agencies.

He expressed his hope that local authorities would continue to give greater attention and more practical support to journalistic activities and the team of reporters and journalists. The Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association also praised the sense of responsibility, innovation, and creativity of the Steering Committee, the Organizing Committee, press agencies, members, and journalists from the nine provinces in the region. Their efforts contributed to the success of the inaugural awards edition, which attracted nearly 400 entries.

The Permanent Vice Chairman affirmed the press’s role as a reliable bridge between the Party, the government, and the people. He also expressed confidence that the partnership between the Vietnam Journalists Association and local authorities will continue to grow closer, contributing to the development of a professional, humane, and modern journalism sector.
