Youth Flower Road: A Community-Based Initiative

The road in Ka Rai Hamlet, Quang Lap Commune, now presents a refreshed appearance, lined with vibrant impatiens flower pots neatly arranged along both sides. More than a visual upgrade, the youth flower road reflects the dedication and collective effort of local youth in building a new rural landscape.

Motivated by the desire to contribute tangibly to local development, the Quang Lap Commune Youth Union selected Ka Rai Hamlet to implement the youth flower road project. From the initial concept, flower pots were placed beneath green canopies, creating a harmonious and nature-friendly space. The project required a total investment of over VND 13 million, largely mobilized through social contributions and volunteer labor by youth members.

Beyond planting flowers, youth volunteers regularly care for greenery, water plants, remove weeds, clean up litter and collect waste, ensuring the road remains bright, green, clean and beautiful. A highlight of the project is the “Green House” recycling collection model, neatly installed along the road as a visual call for residents to join hands in environmental protection.

Recyclable waste such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans collected through the model gradually generates a modest fund, enabling the Youth Union to sustain community volunteer activities while promoting green living and youth responsibility toward their hometown.

Similar initiatives are being replicated across Lam Dong Province. In Nhan Co Commune, youth volunteers recently organized environmental cleanups around Dieu Thanh Waterfall to improve the landscape and visitor experience. Notably, the local Youth Union has applied information technology by installing surveillance cameras to promptly detect and deter illegal dumping.

Youth at the Forefront of Sustainable Development

Between 2022 and 2025, Lam Dong youth organized 1,185 communication campaigns promoting civilized urban lifestyles and developed 412 roads meeting standards of brightness, greenery, cleanliness, safety and civility. More than 2.26 million trees were planted, while tens of tons of waste were collected.

Youth forces have supported 23 communes in achieving new rural standards, 15 communes in developing model new rural areas, and 8 disadvantaged hamlets in meeting rural development criteria. All Youth Union grassroots units have implemented practical projects contributing to new rural construction and civilized urban development.

According to the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union, for the 2025–2030 period, all commune-level Youth Union units aim to eliminate at least one environmental pollution hotspot annually, plant 500,000 trees each year, and expand youth-led models supporting public security and crime prevention.

Through their active engagement, Lam Dong youth continue to make meaningful contributions to improving rural development standards, reinforcing their pioneering role in building sustainable and resilient communities.
