The family of Huynh Ngoc Dung, who lives in Hamlet 5, Truong Xuan Commune, cultivates four hectares of coffee interspersed with macadamia trees.

In 2026, they finished harvesting their macadamia crop, yielding over two tonnes in the second year of their commercial production, which brought in nearly VND 200 million in revenue.

The family is eagerly anticipating the coffee harvest, as this year's yield is projected to be especially high, with estimates of over 3.5 tonnes per hectare.

Dung notes that with coffee prices currently surpassing VND 90 million per tonne, the family is optimistic about making a significant profit after accounting for production expenses.

Nguyen Van Anh, Chairman of the Farmers’ Association in Truong Xuan Commune, mentioned that the commune currently cultivates around 9,100 hectares of coffee and nearly 5,000 hectares of pepper.

Approximately 100 hectares of coffee and another 100 hectares of pepper are cultivated according to organic, VietGAP, 4C, and Rainforest Alliance (RA) standards. In 2026, it is anticipated that both crop yields and product quality will see improvements compared to 2025.

The agricultural activities in Truong Xuan serve as an illustration of the positive changes occurring in Lam Dong’s agriculture and environmental sector during the first three quarters of this year.

Leaders from the Department of Agriculture and Environment have indicated that the sector is confronting various challenges due to shifting weather patterns, market fluctuations, increasing costs of production inputs, and the potential impact of diseases on crops and livestock.

At the same time, agricultural exports are encountering more stringent requirements from international trade partners.

Notwithstanding these obstacles, the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sector is projected to have grown by 4.9% during the first nine months of 2026, surpassing the target of 4.77% by 0.13 percentage points.

Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, remarked that the department has recognized a strong foundation and promising prospects for achieving its goals in the last quarter of the year and throughout 2026.

These include stronger production management, wider application of technical advances, improved market linkages and tighter product quality control.

The livestock sector is forecast to maintain stable growth, while forest development continues to receive focused and decisive attention. Forestry targets are expected to be met as planned.

The sector is intensifying its efforts to implement measures aimed at reaching growth objectives, prioritizing this initiative above all else. Officials and public servants, especially heads of agencies and units, are encouraged to enhance their capacity for implementation.

Key priorities include accelerating growth and restructuring the agricultural sector by utilizing existing drivers, available resources, and unexplored potential, as well as harnessing science and technology and improving the investment and business climate, which are essential for growth.

These initiatives are anticipated to assist producers and businesses in boosting productivity and enhancing the quality of their products and services.

“The agriculture and environment sector has a robust foundation for sustaining steady growth. We aim to achieve the goal of 5% growth in the agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sector by 2026, which will contribute to the province’s socioeconomic progress,” stated Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan.

Several indicators recorded year-on-year increases during the first nine months of the year. The total area planted with annual crops was estimated at 255,166 hectares, up 2.2%, while the total livestock population reached approximately 2,054,500 head, up 5.3%.

Captured seafood output was estimated at 196,117 tonnes, an increase of 4.3%, while aquaculture production reached approximately 21,271 tonnes, up 0.3%. Processed seafood output was estimated at 20,337 tonnes, rising 24.5%. Processed and preserved fruit and vegetable output reached approximately 32,285 tonnes, an increase of 19.2% year on year.
