Lien Khuong Airport reopens after five-month upgrade
Lien Khuong Airport has resumed operations after more than five months of runway repairs and infrastructure upgrades.
Nearly 200 passengers and crew members on Vietnam Airlines flight VN1380 from Ho Chi Minh City landed safely at Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong on the morning of August 19, marking the airport's official return to service after more than five months of repairs and comprehensive upgrades.

First flight welcomed back to Lien Khuong Airport
The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, in coordination with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), held a ceremony at Lien Khuong Airport to welcome the first flight after the airport resumed operations.
The event was attended by Ho Van Muoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee; Dang Hong Sy, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee; and Luu Van Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, along with leaders of provincial departments, agencies and localities.

At exactly 7:05 a.m. on August 19, Vietnam Airlines flight VN1380 departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and landed safely at Lien Khuong Airport.

Lam Dong provincial leaders and representatives of departments and agencies presented flowers and extended their best wishes to the first passengers arriving in the province.

The flight was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute, marking the official reopening of Lien Khuong Airport after more than five months of temporary closure.

200 passengers arrive on first flight
The flight carried 200 passengers and crew members, including 178 passengers from Lam Dong who were working, living or traveling in Ho Chi Minh City.



Welcoming the first passengers to arrive at Lien Khuong Airport, Lam Dong provincial leaders presented them with bouquets of flowers, personally greeted them and extended their best wishes upon their arrival in the province.
The reopening ceremony marked an important milestone for Lien Khuong Airport. It is expected to usher in a new phase of development for the airport while providing fresh momentum for socio-economic development in Lam Dong and the Central Highlands.
Along with flight VN1380, Lien Khuong Airport was expected to receive another 27 flights from other provinces and cities on August 19, providing air links to Da Lat.
Four additional flights were scheduled for the morning, carrying more than 700 passengers.

Following its reopening, Lien Khuong International Airport is expected to handle an average of 36 to 40 arriving and departing flights a day.
The airport will reconnect Lam Dong with major destinations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vinh, Can Tho and Hai Phong.
Lien Khuong International Airport was temporarily closed on March 4, 2026, to allow work to begin on a runway repair and upgrade project.
The Runway and Taxiway Rehabilitation Project is being implemented by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project's investor, in Duc Trong Commune, Lam Dong.
The project is classified as a Grade I aviation transport infrastructure project, with total investment exceeding VND1 trillion.
Its scope includes comprehensive repairs to the runway and taxiways, runway end safety areas, and technical infrastructure and equipment supporting flight operations.
