Lien Khuong Airport Reopens, Boosting Lam Dong Tourism
After more than five months of closure for upgrades, Lien Khuong International Airport is scheduled to resume operations on August 19, 2026. The reopening marks a major milestone expected to accelerate tourism recovery and drive broader economic growth across Lam Dong Province.

Expanding International Air Connectivity
Before temporarily suspending operations, Lien Khuong International Airport handled an average of 36 flights and nearly 6,000 passengers per day, including around 5,700 domestic and 280 international travelers.
Its scheduled network comprised five domestic and two international routes, while also accommodating charter services from Taiwan, South Korea and other markets to Da Lat.
According to airport representatives, operations will resume on August 19, 2026, with approximately 36–40 flights per day. Passenger traffic during the final four months of 2026 is projected to reach around 816,000.

Lam Dong Province will prioritize working with domestic airlines to restore previously successful routes linking Da Lat with Thanh Hoa, Hue, Can Tho and Phu Quoc.
Authorities will also collaborate with airlines, travel companies and tourism partners to introduce new routes and increase flight frequencies where demand supports expansion.
Several key domestic services are set to resume. The Da Lat–Ho Chi Minh City route will operate 7–8 daily flights, served by Vietjet Air, Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Bamboo Airways.
The Da Lat–Hanoi route is also expected to operate 7–8 daily flights, while Da Lat–Da Nang will have two daily flights, Da Lat–Vinh and Da Lat–Can Tho will each operate one daily flight, and Da Lat–Hai Phong will maintain four weekly services.
Notably, the Da Lat–Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) international route will resume on September 2, with AirAsia operating four flights per week.
Nghiem Dinh Hieu, Director of the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said the province would continue promoting established international markets such as South Korea, Thailand, China and Taiwan (China), while exploring new opportunities in Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong to diversify inbound visitor markets.
The Center will coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to produce promotional videos showcasing Lam Dong for screening at airports through cross-promotional campaigns. We will also organize familiarization trips for travel businesses, KOLs, TikTok creators and travel bloggers to experience local tourism products and strengthen tourism partnerships.

Strengthening Lam Dong as a Premier Destination
Beyond restoring air services, Lam Dong views the airport's reopening as an opportunity to revitalize tourism promotion, expand visitor markets and enhance the province's competitiveness as a destination.

The Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center is implementing a series of promotional initiatives, including the campaign "Lam Dong Residents Explore Lam Dong – Discover Our Homeland, Connect with Love", while working closely with partners, particularly Vietnam Airlines, to strengthen destination marketing.
Under the destination brand "Lam Dong – A Journey of Sea, Flowers and Highlands," the province will coordinate efforts across government agencies and localities to assess market demand, identify future route development priorities and implement aviation-support policies.
At the same time, Lam Dong will continue developing tourism products linked to air travel, improving tourism infrastructure and passenger services, and attracting additional international routes.

In the coming months, the province will host a range of major events, including the Lam Dong Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, the Fish Sauce Festival in eastern Lam Dong alongside the Tourism, Gift and Culinary Festival, and a photo and short-film competition promoting Lam Dong's tourism brand.
Together with cultural and sporting activities for the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival 2026, scheduled for late December, these events are expected to attract increasing numbers of domestic and international visitors.

The reopening of Lien Khuong International Airport is expected to strengthen connections between aviation, tourism, accommodation, destinations and communications, helping restore visitor markets while supporting trade, agricultural logistics, investment attraction and Lam Dong's long-term competitiveness.
