Liliang Waterfall Connects Tourism Along National Highway 28

A hidden gem along the mountain pass

Located along National Highway 28, starting from Km0 in central Phan Thiet, the route leads travelers toward the highlands where Liliang Waterfall—also known locally as Cau Bon Waterfall—awaits discovery. Traveling from Phan Thiet, visitors pass through the plains of Ham Thuan Bac before ascending the winding Gia Bac Pass into the lush highlands of Di Linh, where vast coffee plantations stretch across the landscape. From a junction, a further 12-kilometer detour leads to the waterfall. A short trek along a rugged hillside path reveals a refreshing contrast to the midday heat, as cool air rises from the forest. The clear Liliang stream flows gently through rocky crevices before cascading into the first white, foaming tier amid dense greenery.

A multi-tiered cascade in untouched nature

Descending more than 100 meters along winding stone steps, visitors are greeted by the misty coolness of the falls. Midway viewpoints offer scenic rest stops, while further down, the landscape opens up to reveal Liliang’s full grandeur. The waterfall flows across five rocky tiers before plunging into a lively stream below, winding through large boulders. Towering ancient trees and pine forests on surrounding hills create a picturesque and tranquil setting. At the base, visitors can swim in the cool, clear water, fish in quiet downstream spots, or simply relax and capture photos of the majestic natural scenery. Picnic gatherings by the stream, with grilled fish and shared stories, add to the memorable experience.

According to local residents, Liliang Waterfall is a highlight along the mountain route of National Highway 28, which connects the highlands with coastal areas. Travelers can explore nearby attractions, such as Bopla Waterfall, before heading toward the coast to visit the Duc Thanh School Relic Site—where Nguyen Tat Thanh once taught—along with other coastal landmarks. During long holidays, such as Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the April 30–May 1 holiday, a motorbike journey along National Highway 28 offers an ideal way to experience the pristine and mysterious beauty of Liliang Waterfall. Located just over two hours from Phan Thiet, the waterfall promises a refreshing and rewarding getaway.
