More Than 5,000 Runners Join the "81-Year Journey for National Security" Run
More than 5,000 professional and amateur runners gathered on the morning of August 2 to compete in the "81-Year Journey for National Security" Run at NovaWorld Phan Thiet, Lam Dong Province. The event is one of the highlights of the 2026 Sports Festival, promoting physical fitness, community engagement, and the spirit of perseverance.

The race was held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2026), Vietnam's National Day (September 2), and the 81st traditional day of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2026).
Participants competed in four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km, running along the scenic coastal roads and internal routes of NovaWorld Phan Thiet. Alongside Vietnamese runners, the event also welcomed international athletes, creating a vibrant sporting atmosphere while encouraging healthy lifestyles and community participation.
As one of the key events of the 2026 Sports Festival, the race reflects the festival's vision of combining sports, tourism, and community engagement. The festival is jointly organized by the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, and NovaGroup, featuring 12 sporting disciplines from July to September and attracting thousands of athletes and visitors from Vietnam and abroad.
Race Winners
In the men's 42 km marathon, Pham Ngoc Phan staged an impressive comeback to claim the championship with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes 16 seconds.

The women's 42 km title went to Nguyen Thi Be Ha, who finished in 3 hours 38 minutes 49 seconds.

In the men's 21 km race, Bui Van Dung secured first place with a time of 1 hour 18 minutes 40 seconds, while triathlete Le Thi Bich won the women's 21 km event in 1 hour 27 minutes 32 seconds.

The men's 10 km race saw Pham Minh Thi, a runner from Lam Dong, capture the title in his debut appearance at a race within the VnExpress Marathon series. Le Thi Kim Phuong claimed victory in the women's 10 km category.
In the 5 km race, Nguyen Van Chinh won the men's title with a time of 17 minutes 02 seconds, while Nguyen Thi Hiep finished first in the women's division.

Beyond competition, the "81-Year Journey for National Security" Run promotes the values of health, resilience, and community connection.
