More Than VND 173 Million Presented to “White Chrysanthemum” Student on New School Year Opening Day
On the morning of September 5, at Hung Vuong Primary School in Xuan Huong–Da Lat Ward, Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio and Television, in coordination with the provincial Study Promotion Association, Lam Dong Youth Union and the school, held the “White Chrysanthemum – Supporting Children’s Journey to School” scholarship program for Dang Nguyen Thien Kim, a Grade 4C student at Hung Vuong Primary School, as the new 2026–2027 academic year began.

Dang Nguyen Thien Kim was featured as the “White Chrysanthemum” character in August 2026. She is also the 229th beneficiary of the“White Chrysanthemum” program, which Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio and Television has accompanied and supported over the past 24 years.

Dang Nguyen Thien Kim is the second daughter in a family of three sisters. Since her mother left to seek a new life elsewhere, Thien Kim and her two sisters have faced hardship, illness and debt.
At their rented home at 202 Nguyen Tu Luc Street, Lam Vien–Da Lat Ward, her father, Dang Hoang Tien, earns a living by selling broken rice while struggling to cover medical treatment expenses for his daughter, who is battling kidney disease.

The broken-rice shop is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On average, Mr. Tien sells only about 15–20 plates a day, generating very little income compared with the cost of treatment for Thien Kim and her younger sister, as well as the family's rent.
With his children starting a new school year, life has become even more difficult for the family of four.

Despite seeing her father struggle to make a living, Thien Kim helps with household chores and remains diligent and hardworking in her studies.
Although she regularly suffers from health problems, including Grade 1 bilateral hydronephrosis, fluid retention in the intestinal loops and increased intestinal motility, she has continued to overcome difficulties and achieve strong academic results.
Thien Kim was commended by the Lam Dong Provincial Women’s Union for “Outstanding Academic Achievement during 2021–2025” and was recognized by Hung Vuong Primary School as an “Outstanding Student in Learning and Conduct during the 2025–2026 academic year.”

A Scholarship That Strengthens a Child’s Hope
At the scholarship presentation and exchange program with the “White Chrysanthemum” character, held on the special occasion of the opening of the 2026–2027 academic year, Thien Kim received care, support and encouragement from local authorities, agencies, organizations and mass organizations; businesses and enterprises; benefactors and donors; as well as teachers, parents and students of Hung Vuong Primary School in Xuan Huong–Da Lat Ward.

Senior Lieutenant Dinh Thanh Binh, Operations Assistant at the Xuan Huong–Da Lat Ward Military Command, said: “Through the ‘White Chrysanthemum – Supporting Children’s Journey to School’ scholarship program organized by Lam Dong Newspaper and Radio-Television, we hope to make a small contribution to helping Thien Kim have better conditions to continue her education.”

The total amount of support Thien Kim received through the “White Chrysanthemum – Supporting Children’s Journey to School” program was VND 173,666,110.
The valuable scholarship will give Thien Kim greater confidence as she continues pursuing her dream in the “land of thousands of flowers.”
Moved by the affection and support she received, Dang Nguyen Thien Kim said: “I am very grateful to everyone, my teachers and my friends for giving me so much love and support on this meaningful day. I will do my best in my studies so that I do not let everyone down.”

Le Thi Hau, Vice Principal of Hung Vuong Primary School, expressed her emotion, saying: “The program has truly been a lifeline, giving Dang Nguyen Thien Kim and her family an important source of support to overcome adversity.”
