With its universal appeal transcending language and culture, music has the power to connect people in unique and lasting ways. Tourism experts say Da Lat should capitalize on this strength by developing a comprehensive “music ecosystem,” positioning music as a defining tourism product for both domestic and international visitors.

Recent music events in the city have already demonstrated strong spillover effects on tourism and services. Large-scale performances featuring well-known artists draw significant numbers of traveling fans, generating demand not only for concert tickets but also for accommodation, dining, shopping, and local cultural experiences. This “fan-driven travel” segment is increasingly recognized as a high-value market.

However, turning musical inspiration into a distinctive tourism product requires a strategic approach. Experts emphasize the need for high-quality programming as a foundation. Equally important is diversifying genres—from folk and classical to contemporary music—to cater to varied audience segments.

Another key factor is the development of flexible performance spaces. From street music corners and intimate venues for dozens of guests to large-scale stages capable of hosting thousands, a layered network of music spaces can sustain engagement across the city. The participation of renowned domestic and international artists is also seen as essential to raising visibility and boosting tourism revenue.

From a hospitality perspective, early coordination is critical. Nguyen Van Hung, a hotel owner on Phan Boi Chau Street, noted that accommodation providers need timely information on event schedules and venues to prepare rooms and accompanying services. This requires event organizers to plan well in advance and communicate promptly once approvals are granted, enabling travel companies and service providers to design integrated tourism packages.

He added that stronger coordination among stakeholders—event organizers, tourism businesses, and local authorities—would not only improve service quality but also maximize the economic benefits of music events.

From a broader cultural industry perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, Director General of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture, Arts, Sports and Tourism suggested that Da Lat should place the music industry at the center of a wider creative ecosystem. By linking music with fields such as cinema, fine arts, and photography, the city can further enrich visitor experiences and strengthen its identity as a creative destination.

With the right strategy, Da Lat’s musical identity is not just an artistic asset—it is a catalyst for sustainable tourism growth, transforming cultural capital into a dynamic engine for economic development.
