With 36 life-saving blood donations and nearly 20 years of dedicated involvement in charitable work, the leader of the Ninh Gia Commune voluntary blood donation team has become a source of inspiration for many people in the community.

Khanh said his journey with voluntary blood donation began naturally. From his first donation at the commune cultural center, he felt no hesitation, seeing it simply as a meaningful act. Over the past 19 years, he has arranged his work to donate blood once or twice a year, bringing his total to 36 donations to date.

On several occasions, after receiving urgent calls for emergency donations, he immediately got on his motorbike and traveled dozens of kilometers to Lam Dong General Hospital to donate his rare AB+ blood type, helping patients in critical condition.

Whenever he volunteers for blood donation events, he encourages his friends and family to do the same. As the leader of the commune’s voluntary blood donation group, he frequently uses his own experiences to motivate others to give blood.

Many people feel hesitant about donating blood. They worry that it may leave them tired or affect their health. In such cases, I often tell them to look at me and ask whether donating blood is really as frightening as they imagine. I have donated blood many times, and my health remains perfectly normal. Moreover, if blood is not donated, the body will naturally replace old blood, while donating blood helps stimulate the production of new blood. Once people understand this and see a real-life example, they are often more willing to take part.

Beyond his involvement in voluntary blood donation, Khanh has also turned his hair salon in Ninh Hoa Hamlet, Ninh Gia Commune, into a place where disadvantaged youth can learn a trade free of charge.

He said he was concerned that young people without a stable occupation could be more vulnerable to negative influences. As long as they are willing to learn, he is always ready to guide and support them.

For several years, whenever the former Duc Trong District Youth Union, now the Ninh Gia Commune Youth Union, or the commune Red Cross Society organizes free haircut events for disadvantaged children, Khanh and his apprentices have eagerly joined, regardless of the distance. The sight of Khanh and his apprentices carrying their equipment to offer free haircuts to children in remote villages has become a touching and familiar sight in the local community.

His dedication and enthusiastic spirit have been recognized through numerous certificates of merit and commendations from various authorities. However, when asked about his contributions, Khanh modestly smiled and said: “I always do everything with all my passion, and I will continue these activities for as long as I can.”

Commenting on this exemplary volunteer, Nguyen Thi Tram, Chairwoman of the Ninh Gia Commune Red Cross Society, affirmed: “Khanh is someone who always devotes himself wholeheartedly to the voluntary blood donation movement as well as other charitable activities in the locality. The sustainability and development of our community volunteer programs today are thanks in large part to exemplary individuals like him.”
