Nurturing a Love of Reading in Students
Over the years, awards from provincial and national Reading Culture Ambassador contests have inspired teachers and students in Di Linh to continue fostering a lasting love of books.

Vibrant Reading Club Activities
At the beginning of the week, the library at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School in Di Linh commune comes to life with events organized by the “Inspiring Knowledge” reading club. Students gather on vibrant mats in small groups to read, exchange stories, and discuss their insights, fostering a relaxed yet stimulating environment for learning.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Trang, the club’s coordinator, explains that students not only read books but also engage in supplementary activities like creating projects, making videos, and storytelling around specific themes. These methods help maintain engagement, gradually establish reading habits, and cultivate key skills.
Established in 2021, the club now engages nearly 90 students from all five grade levels, convening regularly with content suitable for their ages. The reading selections cover topics from science and nature to narratives about historical figures and influential individuals. Many students say that reading enhances their knowledge, inspires creativity, and enriches their vocabulary.
In addition to the club, the school has launched other reading initiatives, such as mini-libraries in classrooms, outdoor reading areas, and a program encouraging parents to read with their children. These initiatives are designed to foster a more welcoming and accessible reading atmosphere.
After several years of implementation, the school has achieved positive outcomes. Its library functions on an open model, providing an inviting environment with books organized by reading levels and accommodating over 3,300 student visits monthly on average. Activities such as reading festivals, book donation drives, storytelling sessions, and video contests are held regularly, with enthusiastic participation from students.
Students have also demonstrated excellent performance in reading culture competitions. In 2022, the school secured 12 awards at the provincial Reading Culture Ambassador contest, including a national-level accolade. The success continued into 2024 and 2025 with numerous team and individual awards, including national-level honors.
School administrators say the results have helped build a reading culture and encouraged teachers to lead by example by keeping book collections in every classroom. The school has also introduced incentive and reward programs to further boost student engagement.
Support from parents and community organizations, through book donations and themed activities, has helped strengthen and expand the school’s reading culture. This initiative not only enriches students’ knowledge and abilities but also contributes to their overall growth.
