However, household waste, plastic waste and waste generated by fishing activities are still found in some public areas, along rivers and beaches, and around fishing ports. If not collected, sorted and treated promptly, this waste could directly affect the urban landscape, marine environment and community life.

For that reason, Phan Thiet Ward launched the “Green Phan Thiet - Joining Hands to Clean the Environment and Collect Plastic and Marine Waste” series of activities, aimed at mobilising the entire political system, mass organisations, businesses, volunteers and local residents to participate. The activities also support the 11th Da Lat Flower Festival.

The campaign will run from October 25 to November 25, 2026, in four phases, ranging from waste collection at Phan Thiet Fishing Port, the southern section of Phan Thiet Fishing Port and the Ca Ty River, to efforts to encourage boat owners and fishermen to collect waste generated during fishing activities.

At the same time, Phan Thiet Ward will organise an “Exchange plastic waste for gifts” programme and general clean-up drives in residential areas and places where waste is frequently generated. The activities are intended to raise public awareness of sorting waste at source, reducing the use of single-use plastics and promoting the collection and recycling of plastic waste.
