Strategic Central Location Drives Phan Thiet Income Growth

Following administrative boundary adjustments, Phan Thiet Ward spans a land area of 4.46 square kilometers with a population of nearly 85,500 residents, making it a key urban hub in eastern Lam Dong Province.

Most major thoroughfares across the ward feature prominent street frontages that offer highly favorable conditions for retail trade and commercial services.

According to data from the Phan Thiet Ward Department of Economy, Infrastructure, and Urban Affairs, the ward currently hosts 612 registered enterprises and nearly 2,000 registered business households operating across diverse sectors, excluding informal micro-vendors.

The ward’s commercial vibrancy is anchored by Phan Thiet Market, which serves both as a central trade hub and a popular destination for locals and tourists seeking regional culinary experiences.

The area is also rich in historical monuments and cultural landmarks, including Duc Thanh School Historic Site, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Phan Thiet Water Tower, Van Thuy Tu Shrine, Doi Duong Beach, Thuong Chanh Park ...In the first half of 2026 alone, Phan Thiet welcomed 550,000 visitors—a surge of more than 24% compared to the same period last year—fueled in part by an increasingly vibrant night economy along key corridors.

Meanwhile, the ward's maritime fleet of nearly 420 vessels delivered a seafood harvest of 11,000 metric tons, fulfilling over 52% of its annual target. These combined assets have stimulated trade, hospitality, and fisheries while expanding employment opportunities and boosting household revenues.

Local seafood vendor Quoc Thinh noted that sales have risen markedly thanks to strong tourist arrivals during summer weekends and major holidays. Dining establishments, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues have similarly reported higher guest turnover, providing stable job opportunities for service and security personnel.

Targeting Income Improvements and Sustainable Growth

For the 2025–2030 tenure, the Party Committee of Phan Thiet Ward has set a goal to develop the area into a modern, smart urban district driven primarily by commercial services, supported by light industry, handicrafts, and the marine economy.

However, as one of the most densely populated administrative units in the province, per capita income in Phan Thiet has yet to reach initial expectations. Statistics from the Lam Dong Statistics Office indicate that average per capita income in the ward reached VND73 million per year, with the figure projected to reach approximately VND89 million.

Challenges remain at the grassroots level. As of late 2025, Phan Thiet Ward still recorded 278 multidimensionally poor households, comprising 98 poor households and 180 near-poor households , representing more than 1.3% of total households, predominantly among fishing families.

According to Do Huu Phuoc Vice Chairman of the Phan Thiet Ward People’s Committee , the municipal administration will continue to capitalize on its strategic urban location to drive trade and tourism-linked services, while diversifying commercial offerings for both residents and visitors. Local leadership is also prioritizing the expansion of night-time economic activities, retail trade, culinary services, and experiential tourism to generate employment, widen business opportunities, and raise household earnings.

According to leaders of the Phan Thiet Ward People’s Committee, alongside improving the business environment to enable enterprises and household businesses to expand their scale and operational efficiency, local authorities are placing strong emphasis on workforce training and skill enhancement aligned with labor market demand.

Special attention is being directed toward commercial trade, services, tourism, and the marine economy to assist workers in securing stable employment, improving labor productivity, and boosting earnings.

In parallel, municipal leaders confirmed that the ward will step up targeted employment and livelihood support solutions aimed at raising income levels for poor, near-poor, and low-income households across the area.

Capitalizing on our maritime advantages, the ward will coordinate assistance for fishermen to enhance harvesting efficiency, preservation, processing, and distribution of seafood products. We are fostering specialized seafood processing and signature local goods, while strengthening market connections to lift product value across the marine supply chain and raise incomes for our residents...
