Planting the Seeds of Yoga in Phan Thiet

When yoga was first introduced to the coastal city in 2010, it remained largely unfamiliar to local residents. Initial classes attracted only around 30 participants. Driven by a desire to promote a healthier lifestyle across all age groups and communities, Ninh and the first generation of instructors persevered. They invested their own resources in advanced training courses in major cities before bringing knowledge of meditation, breathing techniques and health recovery practices back to local learners.

“Our yoga curriculum is built on sports medicine, human anatomy and classical yoga philosophy,” Ninh said. “Practice must go hand in hand with safety, respect for the body's limits and inner healing.” As more people experienced the benefits of yoga, membership at the Phan Thiet Yoga Club steadily grew. The club now has nearly 100 members.

From just one or two clubs in the early days, the southeastern part of the province had grown to more than 30 yoga clubs by the end of 2025. Province-wide, there are now over 90 clubs, attracting thousands of practitioners each day.
Established in October 2025, the Lam Dong Yoga Federation serves as a common platform for the yoga community, helping standardize activities, promote the sport's development and support members competing in national tournaments as well as provincial events.

Beyond community-based classes, the Phan Thiet Yoga Club also provides opportunities for members to compete, develop their skills and pursue higher-level competition at national and international events.

Its achievements speak for themselves. At the first Lam Dong Yoga Clubs Cup in 2026, the club outperformed many strong rivals to win the overall team title. It had previously secured top results at a series of open yoga club tournaments held across the country.

Notably, athletes Nguyen Tran Lam Huyen and Pham Thi Thanh Thao won a bronze medal in the rhythmic pairs event at the 2022 National Yoga Championships

Promoting Healthier and More Positive Communities

In recent years, most yoga clubs across the province have gradually standardized their operations. They regularly organize professional workshops, invite experts to share updated knowledge and support members in completing 200-hour yoga instructor training courses.

This systematic and professional approach has helped the local yoga movement grow not only in scale but also in quality.

As President of the Lam Dong Yoga Federation, Huynh Thi Duy Ninh said this year's tournament was the federation's first since the provincial merger and featured a wide range of competition categories.

According to Ninh, the event was not only about competitive achievements but also about promoting yoga, improving public health and encouraging a more positive lifestyle within the community.

In the coming years, the federation plans to expand the tournament, evaluate training programs and local activities, and gradually build a sustainable and professional yoga ecosystem across the province.

Looking back, the club's greatest achievement is not measured by medals or championship trophies. Rather, it lies in raising awareness of healthcare, promoting a balanced and positive lifestyle, and bringing yoga closer to its core humanistic values within the local community.
