By 2030, Phu Quy aims to welcome approximately one million visitors a year, including 6,000 international tourists, while maintaining annual tourism growth of 13–15%.
The plan also targets the elimination of single-use plastic products and hard-to-decompose plastic bags at all coastal tourist areas, attractions, accommodation establishments and other tourism service businesses.
By 2045, the special zone aims to attract 9,000 international visitors and generate approximately VND 2.825 trillion in tourism revenue, contributing 17–18% of local gross regional domestic product (GRDP)

At the conference, rapporteurs delivered training on core content regarding green tourism development, focusing on core criteria, solutions applicable to business establishments, and orientations for building tourism products imbued with local identity.

Delegates were also guided on solutions to reduce plastic waste, sort and manage waste at source, and protect the marine and island environment. Simultaneously, guidance was provided on approaches to applying digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism management, promotion, and business operations to enhance service quality and visitor experiences.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Phu Quy Special Zone launched a green tourism movement and organized the signing of execution commitments, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility among enterprises, residents, and the community in environmental protection, constructing an image of a civilized, friendly, and sustainable destination.

Delivering concluding remarks at the conference, Le Hong Loi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of the Special Zone, requested agencies and units to urgently concretize the project into practical tasks, clearly defining responsibilities, schedules, and implementation results while prioritizing key tasks in the remaining months of 2026.
Le Hong Loi emphasized that the protection of the marine and island environment must be conducted regularly and continuously, while strengthening coordination, inspections, promptly addressing difficulties, accelerating digital transformation, and scaling up effective green tourism models.

Through the implementation of the project, Phu Quy Special Zone aims to construct the image of a green, safe, friendly, and sustainable island destination, linking tourism development with the conservation of natural resources. Thereby, contributing to improving service quality, creating sustainable livelihoods for residents, and promoting local socio-economic development.
