Livestock farming in Dak Sak Commune maintained steady growth in the first months of 2026. The commune's livestock herd exceeded 18,100 head, while poultry numbers reached 357,000. Compared with December 2025, pig numbers increased by about 5,000 head and poultry by around 94,000.
According to Nguyen Van Pho, Chairman of the Dak Sak Commune People's Committee, about 80% of the livestock is raised on commercial farms, including 14 large-scale operations. The commune has continued to support the expansion of commercial livestock farming while strengthening disease prevention and environmental management.
Alongside administrative support, local authorities have intensified inspections, vaccination campaigns and sanitation measures to prevent disease outbreaks. As a result, no major animal diseases have been recorded, supporting stable production.
Meanwhile, livestock farming in Quang Tan Commune has also remained stable. The commune's herd reached about 62,000 head, up roughly 2,500 from a year earlier, while live meat output totaled 1,463 tonnes, nearly 50% of the annual target.
According to the Lam Dong Sub-Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health, livestock production remained resilient in the first half of 2026. Although several disease outbreaks occurred, they were quickly contained and did not spread widely. Stable livestock prices, stronger production linkages and significant growth potential have also encouraged farmers to expand production and attracted new investment into the sector.

According to Nguyen Viet Vui, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Sub-Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health, the province's livestock structure is shifting toward larger cattle herds while maintaining pig numbers, as room for further expansion is limited and livestock density requirements have become stricter.
The sector is moving toward industrial-scale, modern and sustainable production with stronger biosecurity measures. Farmers are also being encouraged to adopt advanced technologies and environmentally friendly farming practices.
Looking ahead, Lam Dong expects a stronger shift toward large-scale, biosecure farms equipped with modern technology and efficient management systems. The transition is expected to improve product quality and food safety while supporting the province's target of 5.6-5.7% annual GRDP growth in the livestock sector. The sector is also expected to account for 13-14% of the province's agricultural output in 2026.
In the first 6 months, Lam Dong's livestock herd reached nearly 2 million head, or 97.4% of the annual target, up 4.75% year-on-year. Pig numbers rose to 1.54 million head, reaching 96.9% of the annual target and increasing 5.4% from a year earlier.
