100% of Lam Dong’s Fishing Vessels with Lost VMS Connection Fully Resolved
Since early 2024, Lam Dong Province has recorded 787 cases of fishing vessels losing connection to the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) while operating at sea.

In response, the provincial Steering Committee for Combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing directed coastal localities to take swift and comprehensive action, implementing a series of inspections, verifications, and enforcement measures.
As of the afternoon of October 27, all disconnection cases have been completely resolved, achieving a 100% completion rate. Among them, 659 cases (83.7%) were subject to administrative penalties, while 128 cases (16.3%) were determined to be unintentional and subsequently closed.
According to authorities, most of the non-penalized incidents were caused by technical errors such as transmission loss, weak satellite signals, or damaged equipment. These issues were promptly corrected within the required timeframe, with no signs of deliberate violations detected.

Currently, coastal districts are intensifying support for fishermen in completing registration, inspection, and licensing procedures for expired fishing vessels, aiming to finish before October 30, 2025.
At the same time, competent forces are strengthening port entry and exit inspections, real-time VMS monitoring, seafood traceability, and strict enforcement against IUU violations. These efforts contribute significantly to improving the effectiveness of Lam Dong’s campaign against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
