From Rice to Green Solutions

In Lien Huong Commune, Truong Thi Hong Ha has developed edible rice straws as an alternative to non-biodegradable plastic ones. Made entirely from natural ingredients and free of harmful additives, the straws are safe and environmentally friendly.

Her workshop also produces dried rice noodles and pho, all gluten-free and preservative-free, ensuring safety for consumers. These products are now widely used by cafes and households in Lien Huong, Tuy Phong, Vinh Hao, and Phan Ri Cua.

Dragon Fruit Inspires Innovation

In Ham Thuan Commune, Nguyen Hoang Thu Huong, head of the Hoa Le Organic Dragon Fruit Cooperative, uses organically grown dragon fruit to make unique products such as ice cream, candied fruit, and dragon fruit crackers. These creations attract both domestic and international tourists, who often buy them as local specialties.

Similarly, Tran Thi Kim Linh from Ham Thang Ward has built her brand around the project “Enhancing the Value of Local Dragon Fruit.” She produces naturally fermented juice, syrup, candy, jam, and dried dragon fruit snacks, which are loved by customers for their freshness and distinctive local flavor.

“Our products are 100% natural, with no additives, perfect for cooling down on hot days,” Linh shared. “Our mobile dragon fruit stall, featuring drinks like dragon fruit tea and syrup, is especially popular in Phan Thiet and Phu Thuy.”

Preserving Tradition with Clean Fish Sauce

In Tan Hai Commune, Do Thi Minh Thi, owner of Tam Y Fish Sauce, continues her family’s traditional craft using fresh fish sourced from La Gi fishing port. Her pure fish sauce, rated 4-star OCOP, contains no preservatives and boasts a protein level of 30 degrees.

The workshop also produces sun-dried croaker fish and spiced seafood specialties, creating stable jobs for over ten local workers.

Green Startups, Sustainable Futures

These women-led startups showcase creativity, environmental awareness, and the ability to make the most of local resources. Their clean, high-quality products not only meet market demand but also highlight the growing role of women in building a sustainable, eco-conscious economy in the region.
