Lam Dong plans coastal industrial clusters to drive long-term growth
Lam Dong is planning a network of industrial parks and a large coastal economic zone in its southeastern area, aiming to create a new growth engine for the province.

Expanding industrial capacity
Under provincial planning, Lam Dong aims to complete 16 industrial parks by 2030, covering more than 4,300 hectares, while studying the development of a coastal economic zone initially planned at 27,000 hectares.
Authorities are also considering adding 13 new industrial parks with a total area of about 11,085 hectares in the 2021–2030 period, with a longer-term vision to 2050.
To meet rising demand, the provincial industrial park management board has proposed adding 17 more parks totaling over 11,000 hectares, mainly in the southeastern region.
These projects are planned across several areas, including Tra Tan, Suoi Kiet, Tan Minh, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Kiem, Son My and Vinh Hao.
Expanding the coastal economic zone
Authorities are proposing to expand the planned coastal economic zone from 27,000 hectares to 55,000 hectares, spanning multiple coastal localities including Son My, Ham Tan, Tan Hai, Phuoc Hoi and La Gi.
Officials say the expansion reflects growing interest from both domestic and foreign investors, as well as the need for larger land reserves to support long-term development.
The area benefits from strategic connectivity to Ho Chi Minh City and Son My Port, making it suitable for large-scale industrial and logistics projects.
Investment growth and targets
In the first quarter of 2026, industrial parks in Lam Dong attracted five new projects, including one foreign-invested project, bringing the total to 246 projects.
These include 58 foreign-invested projects and 188 domestic ones, with combined registered capital exceeding 44.78 trillion VND and $514.8 million.
Occupancy rates at industrial parks currently stand at nearly 55%.
Between 2026 and 2030, the province aims to attract 110–120 new projects, with total registered capital of 22–24 trillion VND, while raising occupancy rates to above 80%.

Toward a regional growth hub
Officials say the planned industrial chain and coastal economic zone will be integrated with urban areas, seaports, logistics networks and major transport corridors, including the North–South expressway and future high-speed rail.
The coastal economic zone is envisioned as a multi-functional ecosystem combining industry, urban development, services and a modern port-based economy, potentially including a new-generation free trade zone.
Provincial leaders say the project will help position Lam Dong as a key growth pole for the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions, while attracting high-value investment amid shifting global supply chains.
If expanded to 55,000 hectares, the zone would rank among Vietnam’s largest coastal economic zones, following Van Don, Van Phong, Nghi Son and Phu Quoc.
