U.S. travel magazine Lonely Planet has named the Mui Ne Sand Dunes among the nine most beautiful natural wonders in Vietnam.
According to Lonely Planet, Mui Ne is renowned for its vast red and white sand dunes, shaped over thousands of years by the wind. Set against the lush greenery of southern Vietnam, the dunes create a striking and unique landscape.
Constant sea winds have sculpted the pale golden sand into dramatic formations reminiscent of the Sahara Desert, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking adventure among ever-shifting sands.
The magazine also highlights Vietnam’s rich natural beauty, noting that travelers on long-distance journeys—such as the Reunification Express connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City—can witness endless stretches of green rice fields, white sandy bays, and forest-covered highlands.
The nine natural wonders selected by Lonely Planet include Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, Son Doong Cave, the Northwest mountains, Phu Quoc Island, Ban Gioc Waterfall, Thuy Son (Marble Mountains), Ba Be National Park, and the Mui Ne Sand Dunes.
