From awareness to concrete action
In line with the Central Government’s direction that “science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are the key drivers of the new growth model,” Lam Dong Province has identified science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as central factors in shifting the growth model from expansion-based development to quality-driven growth.
To ensure that the spirit of innovation truly reaches all sectors of society, the provincial Department of Science and Technology has proactively coordinated with departments, agencies, localities and universities and colleges across the province to implement various initiatives. These include the organization of the Lam Dong Techfest Startup Innovation and Digital Transformation Festival, innovation startup competitions, the development of the provincial technology supply-demand connection portal and the publication of the Science and Technology Journal.
These achievements serve as vivid evidence of the continuous efforts made by officials, civil servants and public employees in implementing policies aimed at promoting innovation activities within the locality.
In 2026, to celebrate Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Day (May 18), the Department of Science and Technology has organized a series of commemorative activities. These activities not only carry symbolic significance but also serve as a driving force for implementing local political, and socio-economic development tasks.
A key focus of the communication campaign, running from May 12 to 18, 2026, is being carried out simultaneously across digital platforms and official online portals of the sector.
Strengthening the role of science and technology in economic development
According to Vo Thanh Cong, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, the professional highlight of this year’s activity series is the seminar titled “Solutions to Promote the Development of Community Brands and Intellectual Property Across Lam Dong Province Toward 2030,” scheduled for May 15.
Amid deeper international integration, protecting and enhancing the value of local specialty brands is considered a vital task. The seminar focuses on discussing solutions to strengthen the competitiveness of Lam Dong enterprises through maximizing intellectual property assets, thereby contributing to the development of a sustainable innovation ecosystem.
Earlier, on May 13, the provincial Innovation and Digital Transformation Center inaugurated a showroom and exhibition area featuring science and technology products on Basement B1 of the Provincial Administrative Center.
The exhibition area serves not only as a venue for promoting research and production products developed by the center, but also as a bridge connecting science and technology activities with market demand. Through visits, hands-on experiences and direct feedback from consumers, products are being refined toward higher quality standards, improved traceability and better alignment with practical needs.
In addition to professional activities, the program celebrating Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Day also includes sporting events and meetings with former leaders of the science and technology sector from different periods.
At the national level, the online response ceremony connecting 34 locations nationwide, together with the planned announcement of a global AI expert network on May 18, reflects Vietnam’s strategic vision in attracting intellectual resources.
Lam Dong’s science and technology sector is gradually undergoing strong transformation in line with Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology and digital transformation development.
The 2026 series of activities celebrating Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Day is not only an opportunity to look back on achievements, but more importantly, a chance to inspire creativity within the community and generate new momentum for Lam Dong’s rapid and sustainable development.
