Environmental Protection Key to Sustainable Growth

With its mild climate, rich biodiversity and extensive forest resources, environmental protection is regarded as a strategic priority for Lam Dong. Provincial authorities view it as essential not only for sustainable economic development but also for preserving residents’ quality of life and strengthening the province’s image as a green destination.

Over recent years, Lam Dong has recorded encouraging results in environmental management.

The province's forest coverage rate has reached 45.91%, exceeding the national average. Water and air quality remain largely stable, while more than 90% of urban household solid waste is collected and treated. In addition, all industrial parks and concentrated service zones are equipped with wastewater treatment systems that have received environmental permits.

Addressing Emerging Environmental Challenges

Despite these achievements, Lam Dong continues to face challenges similar to those faced by many localities across Vietnam.

Rapid urbanization, growing volumes of household waste and the need to maintain environmental sanitation in residential areas and tourist destinations are placing increasing pressure on local authorities.

Provincial leaders stressed that environmental protection must become a daily responsibility shared by individuals, families, businesses and the broader community.

At the ceremony, Le Trong Yen, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, called on government agencies and organizations at all levels to intensify public awareness campaigns and strengthen environmental education.

He also urged local authorities to organize more environmental clean-up activities, expand waste collection programs and encourage youth participation through volunteer initiatives such as "Volunteer Saturday" and "Green Sunday."

At the same time, authorities were instructed to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations of environmental protection laws.

Community Action Begins Immediately

Provincial leaders also encouraged residents to contribute through simple everyday actions, including disposing of waste properly, reducing the use of plastic bags and planting more trees.

According to officials, these small but meaningful efforts can help build a greener, cleaner and more livable Lam Dong.

Immediately following the launch ceremony, participating organizations and volunteers carried out a range of environmental activities, including tree planting, waste collection along roads and in residential areas, cleaning public spaces and drainage canals, and pruning trees that obstruct traffic visibility or pose safety risks during the rainy season.
