Night Tourism Gains Initial Momentum

In recent years, Lam Dong's nighttime economy has gradually taken shape. Cultural performances, food services, shopping activities, and entertainment programs have become popular among visitors.

One of the province's most distinctive products is the Da Lat Night Train Journey. The route runs from Da Lat Station to Trai Mat Station along the historic railway line. The experience offers visitors a different view of Da Lat after sunset. It also highlights the cultural and historical value of the railway and Da Lat Station.

Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Saigon Railway Transport Branch, said the service remains popular after more than two years of operation.

On average, two trains run each night. They serve about 120 passengers. Visitor numbers rise significantly during weekends and holidays.

Nighttime tourism is also expanding beyond Da Lat. The recently opened Night Food Street in Phu Quy has created a new attraction for visitors.

Businesses are introducing cultural performances, food experiences, shopping areas, and wellness services. These activities help diversify local tourism products.

However, many offerings remain small in scale. Most operate independently and lack strong connections with other tourism services. Infrastructure and management challenges also remain.

Developing New Tourism Experiences After Dark

Lam Dong possesses a diverse tourism ecosystem that combines highlands, forests, and coastal areas—an advantage rarely found elsewhere in Vietnam.

While central Da Lat has strong potential for music, arts, festivals, and urban nightlife experiences, coastal destinations can focus on cuisine, entertainment, and evening events. Meanwhile, western areas of the province can develop distinctive nature-based and indigenous cultural experiences.

This diversity creates opportunities for new tourism products. It also helps spread tourism benefits across different regions of the province.

Recently, the Provincial People's Committee approved a project to develop nighttime economy models through 2030.

The province will not develop nighttime activities on a large scale everywhere. Instead, it will focus on areas with suitable infrastructure, security conditions, and management capacity.

Pilot locations will include tourism centers and areas with strong service potential. Local cultural and tourism resources will play a key role in product development.

By 2030, Lam Dong aims to establish several pilot nighttime economy zones. The province also plans to strengthen management systems, ensure public safety, and protect the environment.

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan, the nighttime economy can create new opportunities for businesses and local residents.

He said the province aims to make better use of its tourism potential. The goal is to increase visitor spending, create jobs, and support economic growth.

Night tourism is expected to become an important driver of Lam Dong's tourism industry. It will help create new experiences while supporting sustainable development in the years ahead.
