Health Sector Pushes to Meet 2026 Screening Targets

The Lam Dong Department of Health recently held an online review meeting to assess the implementation of the province-wide free health screening and periodic medical examination program.

During the meeting, provincial health leaders acknowledged the determination and efforts of healthcare units despite numerous challenges. However, current results remain below expectations.

To achieve the key target of providing health checkups to 50% of the province’s residents in the first six months of 2026, in accordance with Plan No. 6446/KH-UBND, the Department of Health issued a series of comprehensive measures to accelerate implementation.

Strengthening Coordination and Accountability

In addition to improving professional conduct and service quality to uphold the image of healthcare workers, the department emphasized stronger coordination with local authorities under the principle of:“Clear responsibilities, clear tasks, clear timelines, clear accountability, clear outputs, and clear authority.”

Healthcare units have been instructed to clearly define responsibilities regarding personnel allocation, community outreach, and daily verification records to optimize the scheduling and operation of mobile medical teams.

Medical facilities are also required to thoroughly review legal documents, assign personnel according to their licensed professional scope, and carefully assess examination venues and internet connectivity to reduce waiting times and improve service efficiency.

Digital Systems to Improve Service Quality

The Department of Health further stressed stricter compliance with information technology procedures. Specialist physicians and medical officers responsible for final diagnoses must sign directly within the software system, with no proxy signatures or delayed signing permitted.

All healthcare units have been instructed to urgently standardize medical data in accordance with Decision No. 1551/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and smooth daily reporting to provincial authorities.

More Than 161,000 Residents Screened

According to the Department of Health, as of the morning of June 9, a total of 161,610 residents had received free health examinations, equivalent to 4.5% of the annual target.

The largest group screened to date is school-age children between 6 and 18 years old, with 130,801 out of 686,431 students examined.

Other groups include:

  • Children under six years old: 27,028 out of 302,330 children screened.
  • College and university students: 2,617 out of 20,218 students screened.

Provincial health authorities expect that stronger coordination, improved data management, and accelerated implementation will help significantly increase coverage in the coming months.

The free health screening campaign is considered one of Lam Dong’s key public health initiatives in 2026, helping detect diseases early, improve healthcare outcomes, and enhance residents’ quality of life. Accelerating implementation while ensuring examination quality remains a top priority for the province's healthcare sector.
