Lam Dong Opens Up Cooperation Prospects with Saudi Arabia
On the afternoon of June 11, member of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Tuan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi, during his courtesy visit and working session in the province.

In his welcoming remarks to the Ambassador and his delegation, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Tuan emphasized that Lam Dong holds a strategic position as a bridge linking the Southeast region, the Central Coast and the Central Highlands, while bordering the Southern Key Economic Region.
Following the reorganization of administrative units, the province now covers more than 24,000 square kilometers with the population of nearly 3.9 million. It also has a 192-kilometer coastline, fishing grounds spanning more than 52,000 square kilometers, and over 141 kilometers of border with the Kingdom of Cambodia.
These are important foundations for Lam Dong to expand its development space and strengthen international cooperation, especially with new potential markets.

According to the provincial leaders, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have continued to grow across a wide range of fields in recent years.
Against this backdrop, Lam Dong considers Saudi Arabia an important partner in the Middle East, especially as the province is carrying out the project “Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam’s Halal Industry by 2030.”

Lam Dong’s key products have gradually gained access to markets in Muslim-majority countries. In the first six months of 2026, the province’s export turnover of green coffee beans, flowers and seedlings to Saudi Arabia is estimated at around USD 190,000, including USD 110,000 from coffee and USD 80,000 from flowers and seedlings.
Lam Dong also welcomed around 600 tourist arrivals from Saudi Arabia. However, trade and tourism cooperation between the two sides remains modest, while there are currently no Saudi-invested projects in the province.

At the meeting, the provincial leaders said the locality has around 40 enterprises and business establishments involved in Halal-certified products and processes, mainly in the processing of tea, coffee, fruits and vegetables, macadamia nuts, and seafood.

Many major enterprises in the province have adopted advanced quality management systems such as ISO and HACCP, meeting food safety requirements.
This provides a foundation for Lam Dong to promote production and processing linkages and gradually move toward the direct export of key agricultural products to Saudi Arabia and other Muslim-majority countries.

Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Tuan asked the Ambassador to help connect the province with reputable Saudi inspection agencies and Halal certification bodies so they can guide Lam Dong enterprises in refining their procedures and technical standards to meet market requirements.
Lam Dong pledged to accompany and create favorable conditions for trade, investment and tourism promotion activities between the province and partners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to be carried out in a substantive and effective manner in the coming time.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi thanked the provincial leaders for their respectful reception and expressed his impression of Lam Dong’s strong development in recent years. He affirmed that Saudi Arabia is always interested in promoting relations with Vietnam in general and Lam Dong Province in particular.
