Lam Dong Prioritizes Land Clearance to Accelerate Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway Project
Lam Dong Province is accelerating land acquisition and site clearance for the Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway, with provincial leaders describing the project as a strategic national infrastructure investment critical to regional connectivity and economic development.

At a meeting on June 23, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong People's Committee Ho Van Muoi reviewed construction progress and directed provincial departments to work closely with local authorities and project investors to remove bottlenecks, particularly in land clearance.
The meeting, co-chaired by Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai, brought together provincial agencies, project investors and local authorities. It was also connected online with communes and wards located along the project corridor.
Land acquisition remains the biggest challenge
The Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway will stretch 66 kilometers with a total investment of VND 18.002 trillion (approximately US$690 million).
Within Lam Dong Province, the route extends 55 kilometers, including:
- 33 kilometers passing through forest land;
- 22 kilometers crossing land owned by organizations and private households.
The project requires the acquisition of more than 401 hectares of land.
For 2026, approximately VND 1.75 trillion has been allocated for implementation. As of June 15, disbursement had reached nearly VND 204 billion, equivalent to 11.66% of the annual plan.
Local authorities have handed over 76.66 hectares of construction site, representing just over 19.4% of the required land.
Officials said several sections of the route still lack complete technical documentation for appraisal, while others have yet to submit required dossiers. The investor has also not finalized technical design approvals or signed project financing agreements.
Provincial agencies and local governments presented implementation updates, identified remaining obstacles and committed to speeding up project execution.

According to the Provincial Land Development Center, compensation and support packages totaling more than VND 483 billion have been approved for 739 affected households.
To date, payments totaling nearly VND 364 billion have been made to 343 households.
The project's investor, Son Hai Group, said land clearance remains the most significant obstacle and urged local authorities to expedite site handovers so construction can proceed as planned.
Provincial chairman calls for faster coordination
Concluding the meeting, Chairman Ho Van Muoi stressed that the Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway is not only a flagship infrastructure project for Lam Dong but also a nationally significant transportation investment.
The chairman also urged the project investor to mobilize additional equipment, machinery and construction crews to accelerate implementation. He instructed the contractor to begin construction immediately on every section of land that has been cleared, ensuring that work progresses without unnecessary interruptions. The Tan Phu–Bao Loc Expressway forms part of a broader strategy to improve transport connectivity between Vietnam's Central Highlands and the country's southeastern economic region, reducing travel time while supporting trade, tourism and long-term regional development.Provincial departments, local authorities and relevant agencies must strengthen coordination and work together closely on land clearance. The Provincial Land Development Center should assign dedicated staff to work directly with communes and wards. Once documentation is completed, it must be processed immediately without delay.
