The Lam Dong Business Association is expanding beyond its traditional representative role to become a strategic platform connecting government, businesses, and international markets. As Vietnam's largest province by area adapts to a new administrative structure, the association is focusing on digital transformation, green growth, investment promotion, and policy advocacy to strengthen the private sector's contribution to regional economic development.

Building a stronger business ecosystem

Following the provincial administrative restructuring, the Lam Dong Business Association has reorganized its internal structure, consolidating its operations through an executive office, two specialized centers, seven professional committees, and eleven affiliated business organizations. The association has also been assigned by the provincial government to lead the provincial enterprise emulation bloc.

More importantly, the association has evolved into an effective dialogue platform between businesses and government agencies. Rather than serving only as a representative organization, it now actively gathers feedback from enterprises, analyzes policy obstacles, and submits practical recommendations to provincial authorities.

This collaborative mechanism has helped improve the local investment environment while supporting Lam Dong's efforts to improve its performance in key business-climate indicators, including the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and the Business Performance Index (BPI).

By facilitating communication between policymakers and the private sector, the association has played a constructive role in addressing regulatory bottlenecks, particularly in land administration, planning procedures, investment approvals, and access to finance.

Leading digital and green business transformation

Beyond advocating for members' interests, the association is positioning itself as a driver of digitalization and sustainable business practices.

It has organized numerous executive management training programs for business leaders while supporting workforce development for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These initiatives aim to strengthen corporate governance and improve competitiveness amid increasing international market pressures.

A major priority is encouraging companies to adopt Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, promoting sustainable business models under the vision:

"Strong enterprises, Prosperous Lam Dong."

The association has also intensified efforts to help local companies access international markets by leveraging Vietnam's next-generation free trade agreements, including the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Through partnerships with international trade organizations and business networks, Lam Dong enterprises—particularly those specializing in high-tech agriculture and tourism—are receiving support to expand into demanding export markets such as Europe and Japan.

Balancing economic growth with social responsibility

The association emphasizes that business success should go hand in hand with social responsibility.

Member companies continue to contribute significantly through tax payments, employment creation, occupational safety, and social insurance while actively participating in poverty reduction, community development, and social welfare initiatives organized by provincial authorities and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

This broader commitment reflects the growing role of the private sector in supporting inclusive and sustainable regional development.

A roadmap for sustainable prosperity

Looking ahead, the Lam Dong Business Association has adopted the strategic slogan:

"Innovation for Development – Cooperation for Prosperity."

Its long-term strategy includes:

  • Supporting Lam Dong's objective of achieving double-digit economic growth.
  • Strengthening economic connectivity across the province's four strategic development corridors.
  • Accelerating AI adoption and digital business platforms.
  • Promoting ESG-compliant "green enterprises."
  • Developing a digital business association model.
  • Improving business environment indicators, including PCI, DCCI, and BPI.
  • Expanding investment promotion and international trade partnerships.

According to Nguyen Huu Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Business Association, the organization is transforming into a more professional and practical institution that serves as an architect of the province's business ecosystem.

Rather than acting solely as an advocacy organization, the association aims to become a strategic policy advisory body, an investment promotion platform, and a catalyst for innovation, helping local enterprises compete more effectively in both domestic and international markets.

By combining digital transformation, sustainable development, stronger regional integration, and international cooperation, the association seeks to position Lam Dong's private sector as a key driver of long-term economic growth while enhancing the province's competitiveness in Vietnam and beyond.
