Free English Class in Mui Ne
During the long summer break, many children have chosen to begin their mornings with inspiring English lessons. These free English classes are organized by the Mui Ne Ward Youth Union, offering local students an opportunity to improve their language skills throughout the summer vacation.

Learning through play
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, Thien Nghiep 2 Primary School in Mui Ne Ward buzzes with the sounds of students, even without a school bell. At precisely 7:30 a.m., 41 students are divided into two classes and take their seats quietly, eagerly anticipating their teacher's arrival.
"Good morning, teacher!" the children, who will be entering Grade 3 in the 2026–2027 school year, respond in unison. A nearly two-hour lesson then takes place in a vibrant and interactive setting, featuring review games, group activities, vocabulary exercises, and role-play conversations.
Tran Thi Kim Xoan, an English instructor at Thien Nghiep 2 Primary School, expressed: "For young learners, particularly those from coastal regions, English remains a challenging subject. Many students are reluctant about their pronunciation or feel bashful when speaking. Consequently, we adopt a gentle and friendly teaching approach to foster a relaxed learning atmosphere in which they feel confident using English."
When learning is fun, children more easily take in information. More hands are raised to respond to questions, voices become stronger and more confident, and students no longer fear making errors. For them, this goes beyond a summer class—it’s a chance to socialize, enjoy themselves, and explore new concepts.
Student Cao Nguyen Truc Duyen shared enthusiastically: "I used to be afraid of making mistakes, which kept me from speaking English. Now I feel much more self-assured and have expanded my vocabulary. I will continue to study hard so that one day I can communicate with the many tourists who come to Mui Ne."
Inspiring a love of learning
According to Nguyen Tran Kin, Secretary of the Mui Ne Ward Youth Union, the organization prioritizes providing meaningful summer experiences for children and teenagers. In addition to sports, cultural activities, and life-skills training, the free English classes provide students with another avenue for comprehensive development.
The initiative serves 122 students from Thien Nghiep 1 Primary School and Thien Nghiep 2 Primary School who will be moving up to Grade 3 in the next academic year and require extra academic support. After a fortnight, attendance has remained notably high, with students eagerly engaging instead of spending excessive time watching TV or using smartphones.
Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong, a representative from Dai Phong Investment Development Joint Stock Company, which backs the initiative, remarked: "Mui Ne is an emerging tourist hotspot where proficiency in English has become increasingly essential for education and everyday interactions. Unfortunately, many parents struggle to finance private language lessons for their children due to financial limitations. Along with six classes at the two primary schools in Mui Ne, we have also organized four classes covering mathematics, Vietnamese, and English for 95 students at Hoa Thang 1 Primary School. We hope this program will give children an opportunity to learn English in an enjoyable and nurturing setting."
Even though the free English classes run for only two months during the summer, they offer much more than just language instruction. The program helps boost students' confidence, gives parents greater peace of mind, and reflects the Youth Union's meaningful support for local children. In the end, the initiative expands children's opportunities for learning and fosters aspirations among young people in the coastal community of Mui Ne.
