Lam Dong Accelerates Construction of Border Boarding Schools Ahead of New School Year

On the afternoon of July 6, Ho Van Muoi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to review the construction progress of five inter-level boarding schools serving primary and lower secondary students in border communes.

The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh, leaders of provincial departments, agencies and project investors. Contractors and local authorities from the project areas joined the meeting online.

Lam Dong Urges Contractors to Speed Up Construction

At the meeting, Chairman Ho Van Muoi emphasized that the boarding school projects are important public works initiated by the Party and the State, carrying significant political and social importance.

He said the main contractor, 319 Southern Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Company 319), must fully recognize the significance of the projects and implement them with the highest level of determination.

Before signing the contracts, the contractor had already identified the challenges affecting project implementation. Lam Dong Province has provided maximum support and created the most favorable conditions. Now the contractor must not shift responsibility to others. Every possible solution must be taken to mobilize additional workers and ensure the projects are completed on schedule.

Lam Dong is currently implementing five inter-level boarding school projects with a combined investment of nearly VND 1.444 trillion.

Among them, two key projects—Thuan An Inter-level Boarding School and Quang Truc Inter-level Boarding School—are scheduled to begin operation for the 2026–2027 school year and have completed approximately 65% of construction.

The remaining three projects in Dak Wil, Tuy Duc and Thuan Hanh communes are currently focusing on site grading and earthworks, with completion targeted for 2027.

Labor Shortage Remains the Biggest Challenge

According to the project owner, construction continues to face several difficulties, with labor shortages remaining the primary factor delaying progress.

At the Quang Truc Inter-level Boarding School project, for example, the contractor has so far recruited only 20 of the 80 additional workers previously committed to the provincial authorities.

Responding to concerns over manpower, representatives of Company 319 pledged to introduce round-the-clock construction shifts to keep the projects on schedule.

"We will deploy three additional construction teams with more than 90 workers to strengthen manpower at the project sites. We are committed to handing over the schools on schedule so they can be ready for the new school year," a company representative said.

Ha Sy Son, Director of Project Management Board No. 3, proposed that the provincial government request Corporation 319 under the Ministry of National Defense to urgently assign approximately 300 workers and technical personnel to support construction and help ensure timely completion.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh stressed that both construction quality and project progress are urgent priorities.

"All projects must complete their structural works before July 15. Standing task forces will continue monitoring construction and submit daily progress reports to the provincial leaders," he said.

Strong Coordination Required to Meet Project Targets

Concluding the meeting, Chairman Ho Van Muoi reaffirmed that the projects carry major political significance and directly support educational development in border communities.

He called on the entire political system to demonstrate the highest level of commitment.

Company 319 must concentrate all available human resources, equipment and materials, take advantage of favorable weather conditions and organize additional work shifts to accelerate construction. At the same time, other contractors implementing projects across Lam Dong Province, particularly in the western region, should mobilize machinery and manpower to support Company 319 and help speed up these projects.

The provincial chairman also instructed Project Management Board No. 3, the Department of Education and Training and permanent on-site working groups to closely monitor construction and submit daily progress reports to provincial leaders.

Local authorities in communes where the schools are being built were also instructed to prepare plans to mobilize local forces to clean and prepare school campuses before the opening of the new school year.
