Lam Dong Journalists Association successfully concludes its first congress

The 1st Congress of Delegates of the Lam Dong Journalists Association has concluded successfully, outlining key tasks aimed at building a corps of journalists who are steadfast, professional, ethical, and modern to meet the development needs of the new era.

The official session of the first congress of the Lam Dong Journalists Association for the 2026–2031 term took place on the morning of July 10, with the participation of 150 official delegates representing association members from across the province.

The congress was organized in accordance with the Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association for its 11th term and with the approval of the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Lam Dong Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

This is the first congress following the merger of the journalists’ associations in the three localities, marking a milestone in the association’s organizational consolidation and strategic direction for the new term.

Attending the congress were journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Pham Trieu, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Nguyen Thi Thuan Bich, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, as well as leaders of various provincial departments, agencies, and sectors. Also present were representatives of the journalists’ associations of Dong Nai, Dak Lak, and Quang Ngai provinces, as well as former association leaders from previous terms.

In his opening remarks, Le Huy Toan, Chairman of the Lam Dong Journalists Association, affirmed that the congress marked a significant milestone, ushering in a new phase of development for the association following the reorganization of local administrative units.

The congress was tasked with reviewing the association’s activities during the 2020–2025 term and the initial period following the merger, while setting its direction, objectives, and measures for building a stronger association.

Currently, the Provincial Journalists Association has 450 members, organized into six chapters. In recent years, journalists have consistently demonstrated political steadfastness, strengthened their professional skills, and actively disseminated the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, while promptly reporting on developments in all aspects of life and contributing to local socio-economic development.

The congress heard the summary report on the association's activities for the 2020–2025 term and the period following the merger, and agreed on the directions and tasks for the 2026–2031 term.

Despite many changes, particularly organizational restructuring and the consolidation of administrative boundaries, the Provincial Journalists Association has maintained unity, renewed its operations, safeguarded members' rights, raised professional standards, and worked with press agencies to effectively carry out political tasks.

The congress also devoted significant time to discussing key issues facing journalism in the new era.

The presentations focused on critical aspects of modern journalism, such as developing multimedia journalism, enhancing the quality of professional training and skills, upholding journalistic ethics in the digital environment, promoting the role of resident correspondents, and improving the association’s operational effectiveness.

In his remarks, journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that the first congress marked a significant milestone for the Lam Dong Journalists Association following the reorganization of administrative units. The Vietnam Journalists Association recognized the contributions of the local press to disseminating information, promoting exemplary models, fostering social consensus, and contributing to the province’s development.

According to the Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the expanded scope of operations places new demands on journalists in the context of digital transformation and multiplatform communications.

Therefore, the Lam Dong Journalists Association needs to continue enhancing the quality of political and ideological education, strengthening professional training, applying artificial intelligence (AI) in accordance with regulations, improving members’ well-being, and fostering a professional and united working environment.

The Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association also expressed hope that the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, agencies and sectors at all levels would continue to provide support and create favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies, and resources for the Journalists Association and press agencies to successfully carry out their political duties.

At the congress, delegates voted to adopt the resolution for the 2026–2031 term, with the objectives of building a strong association, innovating its operations and working methods, enhancing the professional standards of journalists, accelerating digital transformation, and promoting the role of the press in disseminating information and shaping public opinion.

Building a strong association and promoting the role of the revolutionary press

The resolution adopted at the first congress of the Lam Dong Journalists Association prioritizes strengthening journalists’ political steadfastness, professional ethics, and social responsibility, as well as intensifying the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, thereby contributing effectively to socio-economic development, safeguarding national defense and security, and consolidating the local political system.

In the new term, the Provincial Journalists Association will continue to renew its operations and working methods, enhance the quality of training and professional development, and make effective use of press awards and the program supporting the creation of high-quality journalistic works. At the same time, the association will strengthen oversight of compliance with the Press Law, the association’s charter, and professional ethics regulations; accelerate digital transformation; improve the quality of publications; and expand coordination with agencies and units to enhance its operational effectiveness.

The congress also set specific targets, including the following: all members will study and fully understand the Party's resolutions; two to four professional training courses will be organized each year; every member working as a reporter or editor must have at least one work submitted to the Lam Dong Press Awards and the program supporting the creation of high-quality journalistic works, while also actively participating in central-level, ministerial, sectoral, and regional press awards.

The congress elected the Executive Committee of the Lam Dong Journalists Association for its first term, comprising 17 members, including a five-member Standing Committee. Journalist Le Huy Toan was elected as Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association; journalists Nguyen Hoang Linh and Vu Ngoc Tu were elected as Vice Chairmen. The congress also elected a three-member Inspection Committee and a delegation to attend the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

The resolution calls on all members to continue upholding the traditions of the revolutionary press, remain united, pursue innovation, and improve the quality of the association’s activities and journalistic works, thereby contributing to the development of a professional, humane, and modern press sector in Lam Dong.

Concluding the congress, Chairman of the Lam Dong Journalists Association Le Huy Toan called on all members to continue upholding the traditions of the revolutionary press, engaging in constant learning and self-improvement, and embracing innovation and creativity. Through these efforts, the association aims to enhance the quality of journalistic works, provide a vivid reflection of reality, and contribute to the rapid and sustainable development of Lam Dong Province.
