Known as Lam Dong's "durian capital," Da Huoai Commune is entering its busiest time of the year. Nguyen Van Hung, owner of a local accommodation facility, said police had guided the registration of foreign guests before the harvest season. He said the facility verifies guests' documents, completes the required declarations, and promptly reports any suspicious cases to local police, helping ensure both legal compliance and safe business operations.
Local durian purchasing businesses have also welcomed stricter management of foreign traders and buyers from other localities. They believe the measures help deter illegal activities while ensuring a transparent and fair trading environment.
Tran Van Nam, owner of a durian collection facility in Da Huoai Commune, said the growing interest from foreign businesses and traders is a positive sign that will help raise the value of local durians.
"We are pleased that our products are attracting more buyers. However, all cooperation must comply with Vietnamese law. We only work with partners who have the required documents and are always ready to cooperate with police when necessary to ensure a transparent and secure business environment," Nam said.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hung, Chief of Da Huoai Commune Police, said the force has developed a security plan for the durian harvest season, assigning officers to work with local security teams and regularly inspect hotels, guesthouses, homestays and other locations where foreign nationals are staying.
Police are also working with accommodation providers to ensure compliance with temporary residence declaration and registration requirements for foreign nationals and raise awareness of relevant regulations. At the same time, officers are monitoring major durian collection points and areas with large numbers of traders to promptly detect and handle violations, while encouraging residents to report suspicious activities to help maintain public order and security.
