Lam Dong Orders Stronger Safety Measures on National Highway 28B
The chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has directed provincial departments, agencies, local authorities and relevant units to strengthen measures ensuring traffic safety along National Highway 28B while accelerating the completion of the highway's upgrading project.
Authorities Accelerate Highway Upgrade While Strengthening Traffic Safety Measures
The Provincial People's Committee has instructed the Central Region Road Project Management Board to expedite construction of the remaining components of the National Highway 28B upgrading project to ensure completion on schedule. Contractors have also been directed to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations by conducting regular site inspections, promptly clearing soil, rocks and mud from the roadway, addressing standing water and landslide-prone areas, and maintaining adequate traffic signs, warning lights, barriers and traffic controllers throughout construction zones.
The National Highway 28B upgrading project has a total investment of more than VND 1.435 trillion and spans approximately 68 kilometers. Construction began in April 2024 and the project has now entered its final stage.
Earlier, on June 19, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant agencies in conducting a comprehensive survey of road infrastructure, traffic management systems and accident-prone locations along National Highway 28B. The review will identify locations requiring additional traffic signs, guardrails, convex mirrors, delineator posts, speed humps and other traffic safety facilities appropriate to actual operating conditions.
The provincial police have been tasked with strengthening traffic patrols and enforcement, strictly handling traffic violations and coordinating traffic control whenever incidents occur.
Local authorities in the communes of Ninh Gia, Ta Hine, Phan Son, Song Luy and Luong Son, through which National Highway 28B passes, have been instructed to intensify public awareness campaigns, promptly report emerging safety issues and guide road users in complying with traffic regulations, particularly during periods of heavy rain and fog, to help prevent traffic accidents.
