Lam Dong Strengthens Cooperation with Japan

On July 15, Nguyen Minh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, hosted a courtesy meeting with Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, and his delegation during their working visit to Lam Dong Province.

Welcoming the delegation, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh emphasized that Japan has long been regarded as one of Lam Dong's important and trusted partners. He expressed the province's desire to further expand practical and effective cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

Following Vietnam's recent administrative restructuring, Lam Dong now covers an area of more than 24,000 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 3.9 million. The expanded province brings together the strengths of the Central Highlands, the South Central Coast and the Southeast region, creating significant potential for the development of high-tech agriculture, agro-processing industries, tourism, logistics, marine economy and renewable energy.

High-Tech Agriculture Remains a Key Area of Cooperation

Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh highlighted agriculture as one of the sectors offering the greatest opportunities for cooperation with Japan.

Lam Dong has developed competitive agricultural value chains centered on key products such as coffee, vegetables, flowers, tea, dragon fruit and other fruit crops, many of which already meet international quality standards.

Japan is currently one of the province's most important export markets. Notably, approximately 59.3% of Lam Dong's flower exports are destined for Japan. The province also has 27 registered growing areas and one certified dragon fruit packing facility eligible to export to the Japanese market.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh highly appreciated the support provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in training local officials, transferring technical expertise and sharing experience in sustainable agricultural development.

The Vice Chairman also called on the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City to continue facilitating connections between Lam Dong and Japanese local governments, organizations and businesses, while encouraging investment in high-tech agriculture, deep agricultural processing, logistics, renewable energy, high-quality tourism and infrastructure development.

Japan Sees Strong Investment Potential in Lam Dong

Speaking at the meeting, Consul General Ono Masuo thanked the provincial leadership for the warm welcome and said he was impressed by Lam Dong's development potential and newly expanded economic space.

According to the Japanese Consul General, Lam Dong possesses many advantages that align well with the investment interests of Japanese enterprises, particularly in high-tech agriculture, agricultural processing, tourism and human resource development.
