Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh Calls for Faster Implementation of Mui Ne National Tourism Area Master Plan

On July 16, member of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh chaired a meeting to review progress on the Master Plan for the Mui Ne National Tourism Area through 2040, with a vision to 2050, while outlining key priorities to accelerate implementation during the second half of the year.

Fast-Tracking the Mui Ne Master Plan

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, since the master plan was approved, provincial departments, sectors and local authorities have proactively implemented a wide range of measures to translate its objectives into action. Public communication and dissemination efforts have been carried out promptly, helping build broad consensus among government agencies, businesses and local communities.

A number of large-scale public investment projects and privately funded developments have been approved in principle, providing new momentum for the growth of the Mui Ne National Tourism Area.

Regarding public investment, the Department of Finance has advised the provincial government to allocate more than VND 128 billion for urban beautification projects and the development of tourism and technical infrastructure in Mui Ne Ward. The upgrade of Huynh Thuc Khang Street is also being accelerated, with completion of the entire route targeted for September 2026.

Tourism promotion and destination marketing have likewise been strengthened, contributing to the enhancement of the Mui Ne National Tourism Area brand while reinforcing its image as a safe, welcoming and attractive destination.

During the meeting, delegates reviewed a number of challenges affecting implementation of the master plan. Several key projects remain behind schedule, while tourism infrastructure and development space have yet to show significant progress in line with planning objectives.

Many privately financed projects continue to face obstacles related to land procedures, planning approvals, site clearance, land-use conversion and access to financing. Participants also noted that regulations governing public-private partnership (PPP) investment in urban and tourism infrastructure remain insufficiently aligned, slowing project implementation.

Delegates further pointed to shortcomings in transport infrastructure, which has yet to meet development needs. Challenges also remain in environmental management in the tourism sector, particularly marine waste collection and wastewater treatment at tourism sites. In addition, street vending, visitor solicitation and unregulated business activities continue to affect the destination's image in some areas.

Strengthening Coordination to Accelerate Implementation

nguyen-minh(1).jpg — Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh acknowledged the proactive efforts made by provincial departments and local authorities in implementing the master plan. He called on all agencies to maintain their sense of responsibility, rigorously implement Plan No. 584/KH-UBND, strengthen inter-agency coordination and ensure timely and effective implementation.

He directed the establishment of a dedicated task force to monitor implementation, expedite assigned tasks, promptly resolve issues within its authority and advise the provincial government on matters requiring higher-level decisions.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was instructed to review all tasks under the approved master plan and recommend practical adjustments where necessary. The department was also asked to proactively remove obstacles and accelerate public investment projects, particularly those involving transport infrastructure, technical infrastructure, urban upgrading and tourism facilities.

For privately funded projects, the department was directed to strengthen oversight, closely monitor implementation and facilitate early project commencement and operation.

At the same time, the department was instructed to enhance state management of tourism activities, promptly verify and address tourism-related information circulating on social media, and support businesses under the principle of "creating favorable conditions without compromising effective management," thereby contributing to a civilized, friendly and safe tourism environment.

The Vice Chairman also assigned the Department of Construction to expedite appraisal procedures and advise the provincial government on approving the planning boundary demarcation for the Mui Ne National Tourism Area.

Meanwhile, the Department of Finance was tasked with continuing efforts to mobilize non-budget investment resources, with priority given to attracting strategic investors. The Department of Agriculture and Environment was instructed to study and propose sustainable solutions to address marine waste management at tourism sites and coastal protection.
