Building an attractive investment environment

As competition to attract investment intensifies, Lam Dong has identified foreign direct investment (FDI) as a key driver of economic growth, industrial development and economic modernization.

Since the beginning of 2026, the provincial government has introduced a series of measures to improve the investment climate, streamline administrative procedures, support businesses and address bottlenecks related to land, planning, site clearance and infrastructure.

In the first half of 2026, Lam Dong licensed 35 new investment projects with total registered capital of VND 56.118,031 trillionand USD 200,000. Of these, four were FDI projects, with combined registered capital of VND 37 billion and USD 200,000.

The province also approved investment adjustments for 28 projects, raising their combined registered capital to VND 95.266,45 trillion.

Besides, Lam Dong has continued to improve its business environment. In the first half of 2026, around 2,600 new businesses were established with total registered capital exceeding VND 12 trillion, up 31% in number and 50% in registered capital year on year.

The growth is expected to strengthen the province's business ecosystem and boost investor confidence.

Lam Dong is also prioritizing industrial park development by accelerating site clearance and infrastructure construction at Tan Duc, Son My I, Son My II, Loc Son and Nhan Co 2 industrial parks, while expanding power supply, technical infrastructure and supporting facilities for production.

In the first half of 2026, seven projects worth VND 403 billion received investment certificates in the province's industrial clusters. Industrial parks also attracted seven new projects - including one FDI project and six domestic projects - with combined registered capital of VND 291.43 billion and USD 200,000, covering 6.13 hectares.

Lam Dong's industrial parks are now home to 244 active projects, including 58 FDI and 186 domestic projects, with total registered capital of VND 46.728,75 trillion and USD 515.132 million. The projects occupy 727.11 hectares, with an average occupancy rate of 53.88%, reaffirming industrial parks as the province's main destination for foreign investment.

According to Le Hai Ninh, Deputy Head of the Lam Dong Industrial Parks Management Board, the growing number of domestic and foreign investors visiting the province to explore business opportunities reflects the increasing attractiveness of its investment environment.

He attributed the trend to improvements in infrastructure, administrative reforms and stronger government support for businesses.

Leveraging Regional Strengths to Attract High-Quality FDI

Beyond industrial park development, Lam Dong is investing in strategic infrastructure projects, including the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong, Tan Phu - Bao Loc and Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressways, the upgrade of Lien Khuong International Airport, and a range of energy and logistics projects.

These projects are expected to strengthen regional connectivity, reduce logistics costs and enhance the province's ability to attract high-quality foreign investment.

Le Hai Ninh said Lam Dong's expanded administrative boundaries have strengthened its strategic location, with the province now bordering Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City - two major economic hubs in southern Vietnam. As transport infrastructure continues to improve, this advantage is expected to further enhance the province's appeal to investors.

Sharing this view, Dau Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Legal Department at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), described Lam Dong as the "green hinterland" of the Southern Key Economic Region, which includes Dong Nai City, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City.

Dau Anh Tuan said that once strategic transport links and industrial park infrastructure are fully completed, Lam Dong will benefit from shorter supply chains, competitive costs and a more integrated business ecosystem - advantages that are expected to attract high-quality FDI.

Moreover, the Lam Dong Industrial Parks Management Board provides ongoing support to businesses throughout the investment, production and operation process, while proactively addressing issues within its authority. The approach aims to retain existing investors and strengthen confidence among new ones.

According to the Lam Dong Industrial Parks Management Board, projects operating in the province's industrial parks currently provide stable employment for around 20,000 workers, contributing to workforce restructuring, higher incomes and local economic growth.

To further improve investment quality, the board will continue building a transparent and business-friendly investment environment, accelerate technical infrastructure development and expand digital administrative services.

It will also strengthen targeted investment promotion, prioritizing high-tech industries, processing and manufacturing, clean energy, logistics and other high value-added sectors.

Le Hai Ninh said 2026 marks the first year of implementing the Provincial Party Congress Resolution for the 2025 - 2030 term. Accordingly, Lam Dong is focusing on attracting high-quality investment rather than pursuing quantity, giving priority to projects that generate strong socio-economic benefits, create jobs, apply advanced technologies and support sustainable development.

With GRDP growing 7.97% in the first half of the year, the industrial and construction sector expanding 9.2%, and total social investment reaching VND 51.2 trillion, up 12.7% year on year, the province is continuing to improve its investment climate and capitalize on stronger regional connectivity.

Lam Dong is steadily strengthening its position as an attractive destination for high-quality FDI, laying a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable growth in the years ahead.
