Lam Dong Holds Scientific Seminar on Preserving Traditional Cultural Values
On July 21, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Publicity, Education and Mass Mobilization, in collaboration with the Institute of Culture and Development under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, organized a scientific seminar titled "Preserving and Promoting Traditional Cultural Values in Lam Dong Amid Digital Transformation and International Integration: Current Situation and Solutions."
The seminar was co-chaired by Dr. Nguyen Tien Thu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Culture and Development, and Tran Dinh Ninh, Member of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Publicity, Education and Mass Mobilization.
The event brought together researchers, experts, representatives of provincial departments and local authorities, as well as officials working in the cultural sector across the province.

Experts discuss cultural preservation in the digital era
Opening the seminar, Tran Dinh Ninh emphasized that Lam Dong is home to a rich diversity of cultural traditions shared by many ethnic communities. Following the expansion of the province's administrative boundaries, research, identification, preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values have become increasingly important, contributing to stronger national solidarity while creating new momentum for socio-economic development and sustainable tourism.
At the seminar, delegates reviewed commissioned research reports prepared for Lam Dong Province and discussed a wide range of issues related to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values.
Many presentations focused on safeguarding the cultural identities of ethnic minority communities, preserving the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, traditional festivals, handicrafts, languages, scripts and indigenous knowledge, while integrating cultural preservation with tourism development, new-style rural development and digital transformation.

Participants also recommended expanding support for artisans, accelerating the collection and digitization of cultural materials, strengthening traditional cultural education in schools and enhancing community participation in safeguarding local cultural heritage.

Concluding the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thu highly appreciated the constructive and insightful contributions made by researchers, experts and local delegates.
According to Dr. Thu, the presentations and discussions approached the issue from both theoretical and practical perspectives, highlighting achievements while identifying current challenges in preserving and promoting Lam Dong's traditional cultural values.
He stressed that, in the context of rapid development and international integration, cultural preservation should go beyond safeguarding traditional heritage. Instead, it should be closely linked with socio-economic development, tourism, digital transformation and improvements in people's livelihoods.
Traditional cultural values, he noted, should be preserved within the living environment of local communities, with residents serving as the central actors and younger generations encouraged to actively participate.
Dr. Thu also called on the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Publicity, Education and Mass Mobilization and relevant agencies to continue consolidating and studying the recommendations presented at the seminar to strengthen the scientific foundation for future policies and practical solutions.
These efforts, he said, would help preserve and effectively promote traditional cultural values while transforming culture into an important endogenous resource for Lam Dong's sustainable development in the years ahead.
