Over 60% of Lam Dong residents covered by health management programme
More than 60% of Lam Dong's population has been brought under the province's health management programme following the rollout of free health check-ups and screening earlier this year, according to the provincial Department of Health.
Under the provincial plan, the health sector has provided health check-ups to 747,534 people. Of these, 188,429 children under six were examined, representing 62.3% of the target group, while 476,918 children aged 6-18 received health check-ups, equivalent to 69.5% coverage.
At the same time, healthcare facilities across the province have created more than 1.39 million electronic health records on the VNeID application, covering 36% of the population.
To achieve these results, the health sector mobilised staff from all 34 affiliated healthcare units, deployed mobile medical teams to schools, and conducted health check-ups outside regular working hours, including weekends. The large-scale campaign aims to ensure that every resident of Lam Dong receives at least one free health check-up during 2026.
However, the Department of Health also identified several challenges. Health check-up participation among adults aged 18 and over remains low, at just around 3%.
Since 1 July 2026, responsibility for organising the programme has been decentralised to commune- and ward-level People's Committees under Decree No. 165/2026/ND-CP. Many local authorities are still facing difficulties in identifying eligible participants, preparing budget estimates, and addressing shortages of medical personnel and equipment.
The Department of Health has urged the provincial People's Committee to direct commune- and ward-level authorities to finalise their implementation plans so that mass health check-ups can begin in early August 2026.
At the same time, the education sector will coordinate health screenings for students at the start of the new school year, while businesses will accelerate periodic health check-ups for employees, as part of efforts to achieve the province's goal of providing free health check-ups to all residents in 2026.
