Environmental protection linked to maintaining urban order has become one of the practical priorities of the Party Committee, local authorities, relevant agencies and socio-political organizations of Phu Thuy Ward since the implementation of the two-tier local government model.

Protecting the Environment to Support Tourism

Phu Thuy Ward encompasses a vast area along the coastline, housing a population of 55,000 residents distributed across 12 community groups. The ward features a variety of scenic locations along with historical and cultural landmarks that draw in tourists.

The local authorities have made environmental protection a priority, fostering public awareness and promoting the development of a “bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized” urban environment.

At the ancient Po Sah Inu Cham Towers near the coast, many officials, Youth Union members, and young residents of Phu Thuy Ward have initiated several tree and flower planting campaigns to create harmony between the natural scenery and the area's distinctive historical and cultural heritage.

“Young people in Phu Thuy Ward have planted thousands of purple crape-myrtle trees on the hills and along both sides of the road leading to Lau Ong Hoang and the Po Sah Inu Cham Towers. In a few years, these hills will be adorned with purple blooms, creating a perfect backdrop for both domestic and international visitors to capture photos before they explore the historical and cultural sites and participate in the Kate Festival of the Cham ethnic community, which is typically held at the foot of the Po Sah Inu Towers around October each year,” stated Nguyen Van Nghi, Chairman of the Phu Thuy Ward People's Committee.

Phu Thuy consistently holds activities to mark “Environment Saturdays” with the aim of fostering a bright, green, clean, and beautiful surroundings, alongside tree-planting initiatives during the last week of each month.

These initiatives are carried out not only in the ward center but also in coastal regions, where residents, Youth Union members, and young people work together to remove marine debris and collect waste washed ashore or carried downstream.

These environmental cleanup initiatives not only contribute to improving living conditions but also raise public awareness and strengthen the community's sense of responsibility for nature and society.

Waste collection remains a major challenge, with more than 45 tonnes of waste generated across the area each day. The ward is stepping up waste collection along roads, in alleys, public spaces and outlying areas, while combining cleanup activities with tree planting to build Phu Thuy into a brighter, greener, cleaner, more attractive and civilised urban community.

Maintaining Urban Order

In the central urban area, Phu Thuy has intensified its efforts to uphold urban order. Ongoing enforcement initiatives by local authorities have gradually raised awareness among both residents and business owners.

Key streets filled with various restaurants and service establishments, such as Hung Vuong, Ton Duc Thang, Thu Khoa Huan, and Pham Van Dong, have remained unobstructed and accessible, facilitating convenient transactions and trade for customers and business owners.

“Managing urban order requires determination, persistence and cooperation. I am confident that with the participation of local residents, these initiatives will progressively become more organized and systematic,” stated the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Toi, Chief of the Ward Police, said the Ward Police have employed coordinated and suitable measures to effectively ensure security and public order, as well as to prevent and combat crime and legal violations in the community. “These efforts have been linked to the campaign encouraging all residents to help safeguard national security, mobilising both the political system and the public to maintain urban order and contribute to local socio-economic development,” he said.
