Lam Dong Youth Spread the Gift of Life Through Voluntary Blood Donation
Over the years, the voluntary blood donation movement in Lam Dong has expanded widely, becoming one of the province's most outstanding community initiatives. With their spirit of volunteerism and dedication, young people have affirmed their leading role in promoting blood donation, contributing to public healthcare while spreading compassion throughout society.

A Strong Youth Force Backed by Impressive Results
With more than 620,700 young people, Lam Dong has a strong foundation for sustaining and expanding the voluntary blood donation movement.
Recognizing voluntary blood donation as a key component of the Youth Volunteer Campaign, the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union has implemented a wide range of innovative communication initiatives.
Between 2021 and 2026, the province organized 665 awareness campaigns, combining traditional outreach with digital platforms through infographics and short videos on social media. Thanks to the close coordination among voluntary blood donation steering committees at all levels, the Red Cross, and the healthcare sector, Lam Dong organized 873 blood donation drives, collecting 78,857 units of blood with an estimated total value of more than VND 19 billion.

Youth union members have consistently served as the backbone of major blood donation campaigns such as the Spring Blood Donation Festival, Red Sunday, and the Red Journey. Many Youth Union officials and members have donated blood between 20 and more than 40 times, inspiring a spirit of compassion across the community.

Inspiring Leaders
The movement's influence is reflected not only in its impressive figures but also in the dedication of exemplary individuals who lead by example.
Among the provincial Youth Union leadership, Tran Diep My Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union, has donated blood 16 times. Supporting her on this humanitarian journey is her husband, Do Quoc Phong, who has donated blood 18 times. Over the years, the couple's participation in the Red Journey has become a symbol of youth commitment and volunteerism.
At the grassroots level, the movement has also produced outstanding leaders who coordinate activities and inspire others, notably Tang Nguyen Thao Nguyen (born in 2001), Chairwoman of the Lam Dong Red Journey - Connecting Love Club. A graduate in nursing, she has combined her medical knowledge with her passion for volunteer work to make significant contributions to the movement.

Having begun donating blood at the age of 18, Thao Nguyen has now donated blood 14 times. During her seven years as club chairwoman, she has encouraged more than 1,000 people to register as blood donors and has coordinated numerous Red Journey programs across the province.
Her dedication has earned her a Certificate of Merit from the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee (2025), a Certificate of Merit from the Viet Nam Red Cross Society (2023), and recognition as one of Lam Dong's Outstanding Voluntary Blood Donors for several consecutive years.
Despite these encouraging achievements, My Dung noted that the province still faces several challenges in promoting voluntary blood donation. Public awareness campaigns remain limited in remote and ethnic minority areas; some young people are still hesitant to donate blood; and the management of donor databases and retention of regular repeat donors remain inconsistent.
To further improve the quality of the movement in the coming years, the Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union has identified four strategic priorities:
- Innovating communication methods while accelerating digital transformation;
- Building a sustainable pool of regular blood donors;
- Integrating blood donation into Youth Union action campaigns;
- Promptly recognizing and promoting outstanding organizations and individuals.
These measures aim to diversify digital communication, standardize blood donor databases, improve donor care, and further spread inspiring stories of compassion.
The journey of Lam Dong's young volunteers continues to write meaningful stories of generosity and humanity, reaffirming the younger generation's commitment and responsibility for safeguarding public health.
Every drop of blood donated not only gives patients a chance to live, but also spreads love, strengthens hope, and multiplies the positive values within our society.
